Strength:
It was sub par in every aspect to my other dvd player.
Weakness:
H02 error, pixelated pictures quite often. Panasonic DVD, and well everything Panasonic, sucks. Between the often pixelated dvd picture and the Ho2 error death, save yourself the headache and buy any other brand. Someone should really start a class action lawsuit against Panasonic for peddling junk, and Best Buy should boycott them for the same reason. Similar Products Used: Toshiba is awesome. I will go with them from now on. |

Strength:
Quiet disc read, modest quality
Weakness:
MP3 read, modest quality, H02 error that i havent recieved yet, im waiting. I have had this DvD player for 2 years now and i use it occasionally (2 dvd movies a month) and so far i have not recieved this HO2. The picture quality isnt the best but its not bad either, it lacks contrast and deapth however im surprise by how quite it plays the discs (sony's comparable model sounds like something is scratching). The mp3 disc playback is slow, and takes sometimes up to 10 seconds to find the next track, Not a bad dvd player for the price. Similar Products Used: Sony, Kenwood, Toshiba, Daytek |

Strength:
Ignore them.
Weakness:
HO2 error. What the f is it? And if there is a little screen that can tell you there is an "error," why can't it be coded to at least explain what is going on? panasonic dvdcv-51 "Throw it out the window." I had the same problem (HO2) that most people seem to be experiencing. I too was a big panasonic fan, but never again unless they write me a check for a brand new, warranteed machine. Strength:
good picture quality, many features
Weakness:
2 yrs' life time... too short! Reasonable a/v quality dvd player with a lot of built in features (though I hv not used many of them...) I bought it in May 2001. It has been a great player until I go the most people-talked-about "HO2" error tonite... Halloween night when whole brunch of friends were watching a music concert dvd and there u go, it stopped playing!! The screen sort of froze a bit, then jumped and finally stopped... My warrant is expired for sure. And seems like based on what I hv read from many other reviewers, this HO2 is a VERY common and fatal error... what can i say? I'll check out some repair shops and find out how much to fix.. or I'll get a new one... 2 years' life time is a little bit short.. given today's technology and quality control... I hv always been a big fan of Panasonic... (TV) and must say I am quite disappointed by this pre-mature fatality! Similar Products Used: my 1st dvd player... |

Strength:
Component and Optical Audio. Decent remote.
Weakness:
H02 error; when viewing the end credits, saw a lot of bleed from the text. Was using Component connections. Received the H02 error after 20 months of usage. The cost to fix is almost as much as a new unit. Aside from that, we were happy with the unit when it worked. Good feature set, but a bit on the noisy side. |

Strength:
Spectacular disassembly whan tossed from balcony
Weakness:
Not enough room to explain. Biggest POS on the market. Got the H02 message after two months. Paid the shipping to have it fixed under warranty. Got the message after 3 more months. DVD would get stuck in machine and it would freeze up. Found that if you hit it hard on the top, it would open the drawer to get my movie back. No cure for it. Had more fun throwing it off my third floor balcony than using it. It smashed into many cheap worthless parts. Didn't buy the service plan because I thought Panasonic was a good brand. I will never buy Panasonic again. You can call their customer service line if you want. They don't care about the consumer. My girlfriend's player is still going strong after three years and cost less than $50. I'll be shopping Sony next. |

Strength:
Overall good picture and sound
Weakness:
Recurring errors, no resume feature when player is turned off, cannot randomize an mp3 disc. Player worked quite well for about a year and a half, now it has some strange behavior that drives me crazy. Got H03 error, and all that fixed it was letting it sit overnight. Routinely gets stuck on certain DVDs, don't know if this is a flaw in the disc itself or if it is this player. Not a complete bust since I wanted to upgrade anyway. Just received Marantz DV4300 as a gift and so far, this is a much more versatile player. Hopefully it gives me years of dependable service. Similar Products Used: Marantz, Toshiba, Emerson |

HOW TO FIX THE H03 ERROR!!!!! I too got this same error exactly 1 year after purchase date. I have a Panasonic DVD-RP56 player. After trying to Initilize it I got the h03 error. So I took off the case and started poking around. TO FIX the ERROR(well for me it worked): 1) UNPLUG THE POWER CABLE, take case off 2) Look at your DVD player. There is the optical(black) unit which reads the DVD. 3) To it's Right(if you're facing the front panel) is slightly raised circut board, with a blue ribon cable connecting the Board and the optical unit. 4)Unplug the ribbon cable from the circut board. 5) Replug the ribbon calbe. 6) Plug Power back in, turn on, you should see the DVD head start spinning again. You're in good shape now 7) Screw case back on I know this isn't same product, but I just thought this would help. |
