Dynamic musical and fast ! Easy placement as just against the wall with little toe in (love that about these speakers 🔊 as got a beautiful pair of Harbeths from a good friend and these were his replacement speakers and WOW! Can not believe how good these sound at any age and price ! No wonder Magico and Rockport use this materiel in their tweeters 40 years later! Best with good tubes to warm up the midrange some (but happy with good SS) and also they are very efficient to drive 😎Great Job YAMAHA! Weakness:
None 🧐I’m blown away by these speakers However placement makes a huge difference! the few negative reviews I read on here I’m convinced that they didn’t place correctly or they would drink the kool aid and be tapping their toes and enjoying these epic speakers...”nuff said” Price Paid: 850

Strength:
I found these speakers used and in poor condition on the buy and sell page. The woofers were blown. One tweeter had a broken voice coil. The cabinets were pretty much toast. After an extensive overhaul of the speakers I finally was able to hook them up to a Simaudio 600i V2 and test them out... WOW! I was blown away with the level of transparency and detail that these things provide. The bass was so tight, although not overly deep, it was deep enough... Okay, we got something here! Next I paired them up to dual subs and adjusted the phase settings... okay now we are really onto something. Next I adjusted some acoustic treatments and added some anti-diffraction rings: I thought these things were supposed to be bad at imaging!?? Nope! A few simple tweaks and I was able to create one of if not the best full range systems that I've ever heard. Seriously... these things are THAT good. They are the best of a three way speaker combined with the best of an electrostatic speaker. They can play jazz. They can play acoustic. They can play rock. They can funk. Edit: Since I've had these for a while I've had a chance to experiment with placement/acoustic treatments/ and I've had a chance to update the crossovers with modern high quality caps. I've also paired them with a modded Cronus Magnum III amplifier with NOS tubes. In the near field, with the speakers approx. 18" off the ground, and about 5" from a heavily dampened front wall; these speakers are the best I've ever heard.... ever. I've installed acoustic panels at the 1st, 2nd and 3rd reflection points and have diffusion panels on the back wall and in the center of the front wall. The result is staggering. The speakers create an image as if the vocalist is floating in mid air. I can pinpoint accurately where each instrument is on stage. I've had friends over who own MUCH more expensive speakers (B&W/Harberth) and I've had to help collect their jaws off the floor. TLDR: These speakers need some TLC - but if you spend the time, have patience, and set them up properly - they will reward you with one of the best listening experiences possible. Weakness:
With upgraded caps? None what so ever. Price Paid: 400

Weakness:
Quizás una falta de sonidos graves. Price Paid: 1000
Purchased: New

Best speakers I have ever owned period. I have had many high end models. They are expensive used for good reason. Crewing Vega D9 are close and quite a bit less money. Spend the money and end your search. Weakness:
Well made and designef to be child and drunk proof. Have mine hooked up to a Pioneer 1050. Price Paid: 450

I bought my Yammie 1000M's in 1979 for what would be to many, an obscene amount of money.

Overrated, bland sounding speaker. No character to them. Non musical. Nothing sounded lifelike. GREAT imaging though. |

Purchased an old pair, then had it upgraded by an experienced ingineer. Everything had to go- wires, caps, voice coils. The upgrade cost double the value but what the heck. Then upgraded the power amp to the classic Beard P100 Signature. Initially I was not impressed, having all the components inside changed. It sounded ok, very smooth, very open. Everything was in its place, but the magic was missing.

I have been purchasing reasonably priced, but quality speakers for a number of years. I have owned NHT, Paradigm, Vienna Acoustics, Volti Audio. I simply was bored, most of the time, by how 'they' effected my senses. I love music, and I love having a system that I truly enjoy, and so, something had to change.

I have a pair of the yahama ns1000 monitor speakers that i would like to sell. They're great speakers just not for a small townhouse. :(
