This is great product connected with receiver Technic SA-GX 230D. I use it every day to listen, music,TV and play classic electric guitar and singing through mic. Tone is bright and clean. You cant miss with this great product.

Interesting effects for casual music or movie listening. Great karioke functions. Decent user manual. Adjustable sound fields and delay, echo, etc.

Adds too much noise and hum; graphic display is ugly and monotone; parametric EQ is annoying to adjust and it's difficult to tweak one frequency range at a time; i/o's are poorly built; button interface is poorly designed; no remote.

I agree with Mike's review, below. The EQ only has three different frequency ranges that can be adjusted; this means that you will only be able to adjust from 1 to 3 frequencies within that range at any given time. It can be frustrating to mess with the thing. The higher you raise the EQ levels, the worse the electronic haze. As for the sound fields, echo, etc, they're not to be used for serious music listening. They pretty much ruin your music. However, for listening to the TV or movies in stereo, you can get some interesting effects. This is not surround sound by any means, it's just a way to widen the soundstage a little, or add some delay to people's voices. But who really wants to hear people sounding as if they're in a church or stadium? It's fun to play with initially, then wears out it's welcome. It sounds processed and canned for serious movie watching, but it's interesting to add these effects for casual listening through speakers. This unit is definitely not for headphone listeners; it adds too much electronic haze and even a little hum. Also, the i/o's on the back are cheesy, they wiggle and are not gold plated. However, I've had it my system for a year, and I still use it for the EQ function. If I had a normal graphic EQ, I'd replace this unit, but it's actually served me pretty well. I have no intention of removing this unit at the moment, despite the slight hum it adds (usually only if you excessively boost the higher frequncies.) The karioke function is excellent; you can remove vocals (mostly) and change the key of the song to your preferred key. Cool! To sum up, if you want to sing karioke and record it, this is your unit. If you want to play around with some decent sound effects for casual listening (maybe you don't want to spring for a Dolby unit yet), or you need an EQ that will boost 3 frequencies at a time, ditto. However, serious music listeners will want to search elsewhere for a quieter unit with a more colorful display and easier to use interface. It's an interesting product, especially with it's new lower price, but it won't be around for too much longer in the age of Dolby.

First of all, this baby came included with my rack stereo
system - Technics SD-S4400 - and altough the amp has 130Wpch, without out the sound proccesor, the sound isn't as crisp. With the proccesor on and adjusting the levels, my system sounds way better. The best feature is the Field proccesing were you can opt for the factory's settings or adjusting it to your own personal preferences. This is a major point since you can't adjust the setting with receivers that come with DSP. If your're a
fan of DSP and/or need an Equalizer, you'll definitely wont
go wrong with the Technics SH-GE90.

This little baby made my audio system the best it could be. Now I can tweak the frequency response until I have it exactly the way I want it with the parametric EQ. I can even add some digital delay, echo, or reverb to the sound. There are lots of presets which simulate various listening environments, and I found that the factory settings were nearly perfect without adjusting. But I don't like presets so I overrode the settings and added some digital delay to all the music I hear. This has made listening to the same boring CD's I a whole new experience! This is a top quality, professional Digital Signal Processor and EQ which I would highly recommend to ANYONE who wants TOTAL CONTROL over their music. I also use the Karioke function a lot, which mutes the voice and changes the key of the song to your liking. 5 stars by far.

Had one a couple years. The dsp settings are all overblown. Setting them to their minimum effect was still a little too much for my taste. The parametric eq worked well but added an electronc haze. Also the noise floor was a little higher when using this unit.

I would like to point out that the product I review:Technics
SH-GE90 is incorrect, see there are two identical products
the SH-GE90 and the one I own the SH-GS91. It seems to me
that the SH-GS90 is the "replacement" for the SH-GS91 but with cheaper components. I have NEVER heard that annoying electronic noise in the SH-GS91. But since Technics started to manufacture cheaper quality products recently, I belive that the SH-GE90 produces such noise. Take my Technics speakers for example. My Technics SB-A64 stereo speakers 4way-4speakers is equiped with a 1" soft dome tweeter a 4" Cone Poly-covered Mid and 2 12" Poly Woofers each speaker. Now their newest stereo speakers are 2"cone tweeter(bad for Highs)4"cone Mid and 2 8 & 10" woofers all made with a cardboard-like material which for the woofers means weak bass at high volume. As you can see or hear, its disappointing to see Technics produce such cheap components.
