I have owned this receiver for 4 years now. It was the start of my audio hobby. Originally I used it for both home theatre and music listening. Now years later I went to separates for music listening. This runs my home theatre and general tv watching. I love it's simplicity and has many ways to calibrate my speakers to best take advantage of their sonic qualities. I am using it to run 4 satellite B&W speakers for front and rear. I am using an Usher Audio S525 for center channel. I have a Velodyne 10 inch powered subwoofer. The settings allow me to not run any frequencies less than 80Hz to fronts and rears as well as center channel. My sub picks up all the low frequencies. I would describe the sound as being dynamic. Picks up all the details a lesser amp or receiver likely misses. Plays louder than most anyone would ever need. Has automatic shutoff feature if receiver gets too hot. Only time this has happened was when I ran a pair of Magnepan MMG speakers through it at a high level for several minutes. Receiver calls for 8 ohm speakers but can handle 6 ohm and apparently 4 ohm too...provided you don't push it too hard too long. Only thing I would have liked to see on this receiver was some preouts so I could've used it as a 2 channel preamp as well. |
