Strength:
Made my high end system (Reference 3A DeCapo I speakers, Transcendent Sound T8-LN amp) sound like a faded 1980s cheap japanese mass market system. Weakness:

Strength:
The USP-1 is great value for the money but it is not perfect. It tends to be on the bright side and a bit fatiguing to listen to over time. Still, it does a very good job and has lots of available connections on the back of the unit, including bass management Recommend highly for the price Purchased: New

After removing my trusty GFP565 Adcom preamp, only to what I thought would be upgrading in sound, turned out, NOT to take my system to another level like I thought. There was a huge difference of sound in my opinion. Sorry Emotiva, I feel you guys still have some definite improvements to make in my opinion. The sound isn't as refined, and musical as my Adcom.

I am a Brazilian audiophile with over 40 years experience in music. My involvement with music was very influenced by my father's family, which was very large and where all were musicians. For this reason I decided to study Clarinet and Alto Saxophone. I was part of quintets saxophones several orchestras in my city, always as first Alto Saxophone.

If you are new to the world of high-end audio and are looking for a quality pre-amp then look no further than the Emotiva USP-1. It produces FAR superior sound that an Onkyo, Yamaha or Marantz receiver and/or pre-amp. It it on par with lower-end to medium-end products from Parasound and Rotel.

I purchased the USP-1 new based on reviews. I've used Carver, Pioneer and other preamps prior to the Emotiva.
