Nakamichi TA 4A packs some good sound output just like other audios from Nakamichi, the expectation is really met. I don't mind giving a five star in this item as it can last for decades with still good output. patio screen enclosures st. petersburg

I own several systems, one of my most prized is The Nakamichi PA7 with the Nak preamp and topping off the rack is a Vintage Bluenote Belvedere! Ok so enough about that stack, My Nakamichi ta4 sounds almost exactly the same, minus the phono preamp adjustments...exactly the same. So for thousands less, same sound! I wish I had read my own review before shelling out the dough on the other systems.

I purchased a used TA-4A more than 20 years ago and always thought it was pretty much OK. I got into the high dollar stuff for a while and forgot all about this Nakamichi. I recently took it out of storage to hook up a small system in a new office space that has good acoustics. I'm using a pair of NHT 1.5's (without sub), lamp cord, and a cheap CD player. I am dumbfounded at how good it sounds. It's astounding. This receiver is amazing and I never knew how good. Looking forward to connecting a better CD player, my old phono, my Nak 700II tape player, sub, and some better speaker wire. Will post a follow up later. You could assemble an amazing budget system with this receiver.

The TA-4A lives up to all of the hype it has received over the years. I have owned levinson seperates, accuphase, and many others and this Nakamichi is just so much better than the current midfi equipment. Nad, Cambridge, rotel, cannot touch this receiver. The sound is slightly warmer than neutral, never harsh but also not lacking in detail. The ta 4a drives maggies with ease, a rare feat. One thing to mention is that at its age you must get a recap if you want to hear this receivers true potential. Recaps cost $300-$450 and will keep the nakamichi going another 30 years and bring back the original excellent sound quality. At $5-600 these nakamichi are a steal!
