For me it is ALWAYS the best bang for the buck and the Audioquest Bedrock was in my system for a couple of years it was replaced only by cables much more expensive but again a best bang for the buck i ALWAYS buy used and when a deal come's along i go for it, i replaced my Bedrocks by Tara Labs Temporal Continuum ( list price $2,400.00 ) paid $500.00 yes they are over 20 years old BUT they where good back then and they are still good today a cable only gets BETTER with time, the Audioquest Bedrock is a very good cable for the money.javascript:document.PostReviewForm.submit()

Strength:

Non-fatigue, transparent, clean but strong bass impact & good imaging

Weakness:

stiff

My bedroom Mission 771 speakers’s xover are modified with Auricaps & Solen caps which make the speakers clean, clear & free from grain, but still have harsh sounding with Monster Z1 speaker cables. With cheap 12 gauge AR Reference speaker cable from Best Buy, the harshness is tamed but lack the bass impact. I purchased these bi-wire cables, probably at the last chance before sold out from audioadvisor. Well, I feel lucky (or unlucky, I should buy another pair of cable before sold out). These cables have both good advantages of the monster & the AR especially bass impact, in fact I have to turn NFB off from my handmade valve amp.

Strength:

Detail level

Excellent soundstage

Entended bass

Value for money

Weakness:

Hard to terminate

Not flexible

In my systm this cable has been wired in bi-wire configuration to run high quality bookshelf speakers on matching stands. At first the Bedrock seems vague with very little accuracy or depth. Given at least 80-100 hours it opens up superbly, giving high levels of detail and an excellent soundstage.

I listen to all styles of music spending much time in the jazz and rock genres, the Bedrock copes very well with all styles and would suit anyone who loves music with detail and solid bass.

This cable is not for those trying to hide their speaker wire, it is very thick and flexibility can prove an issue. It can be hard to self terminate into banana plugs but with patience you will achieve good results.

This cable is good value for money

6 metre cost $210 Aus

Strength:

Imaging, detail, easy to listen to every day without fatigue

Weakness:

Could be a bit brighter but maybe after some use....

Purchased Audioquest Bedrock after a lot of experimentation with cheap but acceptable cable. ( Monster, Lower end Kimber, Axiom, radio shack, IXOS, and homemade). I was trying to find the best cheap cable and the only one that cought my attention after a great deal of experimentation was the Audioquest Type 4. It was good but still a bit lacking. I asked around and was told that when upgrading in audioquest products, go a couple of models up for noticeable differences. With this in mind I bought the Bedrock cable. It is a mid-level cable that quite frankly outshines all the cheap cable combinations I have tried. I never thought cable could make a critical listening difference but I was wrong and I don't regret this purchase. Bedrock starts out on the dark side and then grows in soundstage as it breaks in. What you hear is pretty much the music without a lot of sparkle. This is a good thing. the sparkle I am referring to is distortion which is present to some degree in the multi strand cables. I'm satisfied.

My wife had a long face when the cable arrived, almost $400. She was then disappear on the couch and listen to the music after the cable is in. I think I don't have to sell it back to eBAY like other cables.

Strength:

Nice smooth presentation with only strengts on low, mid and high. Everything is right

Weakness:

none

I tried a lot during the last ten years and finally I find AQ! What a sound this cables produce! I tried Bedrock and Gibraltar but did not find Gibraltar that much better to pay a lot more for it. The cable has a smooth presentation and does everything just right. If you looking for a cable with a overall perfect performance try this one for sure. I also tried Monitor Black&White LS-1202 and The Revolution from van den Hul but the did not make it in my system. The sound I now have with all my AQ cables is what i was looking for. This cable is much more worth I think. One reviewer has given 1 point for it. Well this must be someone with hearingproblems!!!

Strength:

Powerful, deep and tightly controlled bass, transparent midrange, and superb highs.

Weakness:

Solid core conductors are stiff, and can be tough to rout.

Until adding Audioquest's Bedrock to my system, I had never really thought to put much importance on speaker cables. I was always reasonably happy with my Circuit City Monster cable, which worked fine with my Mission 772 monitors and C1 center channel. However, when I began to replace the Missions with Mirage Omnipolars, I noticed certain details were missing, for example on the "Gladiator Waltz" track on the soundtrack album, the deep, wide sound stage, with the horns, strings, and kettle drums all around me that I experienced with the 772s was gone. The sound stage seemed flat and restrained, and the imaging magic that I know the OM-6s are capable of just wasnt there. While fine for $500pr Missions, the Monster was just no match for $3500 Mirages. I started auditioning with Cardas Cross, and while it was a generally pleasing and revealing cable, I didnt feel that it lived up to its $1K price tag (for 3M). I also breifly tried the Quadlink 5C, and was not impressed, so that was it for Cardas. The Bedrock was a sonic revalation. It seems to compliment the OM-6s perfectly, with thundering but tightly controlled lows, silky sweet mids, and perfect highs, which are crystal clear and highly detailed, yet not overly foward or bright. More importantly, the signature omnipolar sound that was missing with the monster cables was back. Soundstage width and depth increased by leaps and bounds, vocals greatly improved, and when I finally was able to stop analyzing the details and just sit back and listen, the experience was wonderful. The sonic veil holding the Mirages back by the Monster was gone, and the speakers could disappear into the room (not an easy thing for tower speakers to do). The Bedrock made a huge difference in the bass response of the OM-C2, which was able to get down to subwoofer level deep bass that was never possible with the Monster. Since the subwoofers in the OM-6s are powered by internal amps, I wasnt sure what kind of (if any) difference there would be since the speaker cables essentially act as low-level interconnects for the OM-6s subs. The difference turned out to be huge, with a level of depth and slam that I never knew they were capable of. The fact that Bedrock can be had from Audio Advisor for $230 for a 10FT pair internally bi-wired was just the icing on the cake. There is nothing else at even well above that price that sounds as good. Now to add some King Cobra interconnects...

I bought these cables to replace some Kimber 8TC. I wanted a last purchase or at least a purchase that I would be hard pressed to better in price and sound. I listened to many cables for over a year in my system before I settle on these gems. In comparison they seemed a bit dark vs the Kimbers, the bass was bigger and fuller the whole sound was a bit softer but after breaking them in and really listening what was missing was the harshness the Kimbers had and they were way more quiet. With the Kimbers 8TC my tube gear sounded like solid state gear which made me roll tubes just to get the warm tube sound I like. With AQ the tube sound comes thru every type of tube I try and the sound of my equiptment comes thru very easy. I can hear everything within a huge sound stable sound stage, vocals are perfect, highs are right and not harsh and low end is deep, tight and musical not just a boom.

Strength:

Ability to produce very deep bass at a very refined, and controlled level. Midrange can be magical with right gear combo. Highs are smooth ,and silk like with the right setup. Strings ,and pianos makes it very musical.

Weakness:

It can be very, very stiff.

This review comes after a year of testing and intavative upgrades around my bedrock cables. First of all system consist of a Bryston 9B amp,Bryston SP1 pre pro ,a Denon 2800 Dvd player ,and a Monster 5000 power conditioner. Next my speakers are a set of Sonus Faber Grand Piano's,Conserto sorrounds,Solo center channel, and a Boston Acustic PV1000 subwoofer.Let me start by saying that the Bedrock's true pertencial can only be reached by the gear associated with it. Now lets go and see what made my system come from a bright sounding home theater stereo system to a stereo home theater masterpiece, and still growing. The first thing I notice from the Bedrocks was it's ability to produce very tight bass at extremely controlled level's while maintaining a detailed midrange with silky highs. At the next step I added power cords all around. The amp I put a custom power cord,SP1,DVD, and sub, were all PS audio mini labs. This gave me a hole level of bass slamm, and dynamicsthat I did'nt have to this point, plus it was noticeably more quiet, and it was already quiet to begin with. ThenI went from Monster iterconnect's to Acoustic Zen'sWow XLR version. After about 100 hours of play time the brightness was replaced with musical detial, much more refinement in the bass, midrange ,and the highs got velvity smooth on top. At this point the most signifant upgrade lead me back to Audioquest with the VSD-4 coaxial cable. In my situation the Denon DVD player is not a 24 bit player so th VSD-4 lets me use the dac from my SP1 to get true high end sound that I was missing all yhe time. So now after another 200 hours of burn in time I get to hear my amp breath big time. Allof the instruments are separately placed ,and soundstaging has become huge. This cable is so musically refined that it alone has added thousands of dollars in value to my system. The bass to my sub now is so well controlled that it only gets to handle the ultra lows. I could'nt have reached this level of sound without the bedrock's ability to mesh well with other high end gear. Audioquest job well done.
