if you can get past the size of them, nothing will serve you better.... mine were £400 off ebay a few years ago ( including the centre speaker.....then £150 for the rears)

with the right amp, (....onto my 4th amp with them....stick to gutsy amps like onkyo and arcam etc and you'll be ok....used a £1800 marantz amp but it was too laid back.......used a few blu ray players too, including sonys flagship and the scale of the sound was huge!

stunning!....these have the power to shock and even make a case for themselves to be used for 2 channel duties too!.....lovely tuneful, slightly warm bass, and lots of it, so much so that you might be able to for-go a subwoofer, if shaking the foundations isnt your thing ..... dynamic midrange and comfortable top end.

ultimately, what made me part with the cash for them was the guy who i bought them off had spent nearly £4k on their replacements from Linn.....everythng else under this price hadnt been good enough to justify changing them ( and he was using the same onkyo amp as me aswell)

" that will do me " i said, " here, grab an end ad help me to the car "

Strength:

Lots of "frontal slam".. it really does SLAM..honest!!
Big speaker, lots of bass and the speech is crisp.

Weakness:

The "piano finish" on the sides looks great. I wish they could have had the same finish on the back, top and bottom.

I love the way it sounds.
When i first hooked it up It sounded a little harsh a little bright. It hurt my ears a bit.
now, its getting settled in and i getting settled listening to it and must say I am very impressed with the sound.
that ear hurting harshness is losing its strength (either that or i'm going deaf.. hehe!) and I'm starting to hear some very pleasing sounds.
The following two words, "frontal slam", really do describe it well.
i dont know what else to say other than.. bloody fantastic.
well worth an audition.
at 28 inches and 14kgs (22 litre internal volume) its pretty big but i tend to over look that a little because it does its job so well.

Strength:

Great detail, both in dialogue and in music. Even better slam but can sound subtle when it has to.

Weakness:

Big?

From the first time I plugged it in, it was the best center I ever heard. Later, when I started to add the TDM 45b THX sub and TDM 23F THX front speakers it all got even better, more balanced, more impressive. I can play loud for a long time without getting fatigued. Dynamics are great. I use them with Marantz MA-500 THX power amps for each speaker and a Sony DVPs725 dvd, a panasonic stereo VCR and Yamaha DSPE492 for Prologic. This setup works relatively good, but I can't wait to replace the Sony and Yamaha processing with one good THX digital processor. It's a shame however that THX equipment doesn't sell well here in the Netherlands, so I've to pay a lot and I get to audition a little.

Similar Products Used:

Some Quadral center (german), KEF 100 & 200c and auditioned many other THX and non-THX centers.
