The TM 2 tuner integrates very easily into the MA 6600 integrated amp making it a receiver. The remote control that comes with the MA 6600 fully controls the tuner which is quite convenient. Having RDS and HD really sets it on the cutting edge of broadcast radio. The sonic aspects of it are very good, and will move seamlessly from analog to HD radio should the HD signal not be strong enough. It easily installed into my wonderful MA 6600. Please read my review. Having the TM-2 in the amp frees up an input which is the factor I like most about having it as I have a number of components.

My particular unit was won in auction at a very good price. It came with just the FM portion and not the AM. Therefore all comments made with that in mind. Despite it offering the utmost in ease of use and built so very well, it is indeed a Mac. The performance was on par with the Sony HD radio, which is excellent. In that the McIntosh MA 6600 also has a learning remote control, should one not need the freed up input I feel the cost does not warrant the purchase at anywhere near MSRP. With it's list price of $800.00 compared to the Sony at $100.00, which preceded the TM-2, had I not gotten such a great price on the TM-2 it would be a no brainer.

If you have the cash, get the Mac, if not IMHO your dollars would be better spend on the Sony or the Sangean HD radios. HD radio is better and a worthy addition to any system.
