These speakers sound and look great. However the cherry vinyl wrap tends to bubble around the grills. Like another owner, I had one of my woofer baskets break at all four points from a drop that did not damage the speaker cabinet itself. Turns out the baskets are made of resin. Klipsch claims it's an acoustically inert material. That may be true but it's fragile when it has to support the weight of a chunky woofer magnet. So they're nice speakers that sound a little better than my Klipsch R-15M's bookshelf speakers, probably because they do have that sweet titanium tweeter while the R-15M's is aluminum.

I bought my pair of RB-15's at a local pawn shop and I think they sound great. I would recommend these for bookshelf speakers to anybody that ask me. Keep up the good work Klipsch, love ya... The fella that dropped his speaker well need I say anymore. Oppss. Walt from Tacoma Washington.... |

Strength:
I don't know of any never got to listen to them
Weakness:
Quality of construction was especially poor for a speaker line you call the "Reference Series" These are an embarrassment for the Klipsch name in the audio world. I have been a loyal Klipsch fan for over 20 years but the quality in construction of these speakers is despicable. I accidentally knocked one off of my couch onto a thick carpeted floor and the woofer frame broke at all four points!. What is up with that. They were made of a flimsy PLASTIC! I am sure there were other more reliable options available for the speaker frame, but the folks at Klipsch opted for the cheap way out. And I do mean cheap! Paul W. himself would be beside himself over this faux pau. I have had a pair of La Scala’s for over 20 years and bought these assuming quality would not be sacrificed by Klipsch. Oops I guessed wrong on that one. Similar Products Used: Polk R-1, used fo rrear surrounds. |

Strength:
clean accurate sound quality. gold colored woofers in the reference series look and sound classy. the horns are so accurate and in your face. these speakers have that Klipsch dynamic sound. they are superb as surround speakers and would be great for front speakers in a small stereo or home theater setup
Weakness:
bass response but who would want a 5 1/4 inch woofer to put out deep bass? these are a little pricey but not too bad. the lack of a real wood veneer like in their fuller sized cousins would be nice. or at least an option for it. I bought these speakers for back surround use. I also use them for listening to SACD or DVDA in surround sound. These are great little speakers very accurate, not much at all in the bass department. I have a velodyne sub for deep bass. These little speakers rock when listening to dark side of the moon in multi-channel sacd or listening to a dvd with a DTS-ES 6.1 they bring incredible belivability and realism to the soundstage.
