I tried these speakers at the suggestion of the audio dealer near my new home when I moved in 2007. I had enquired about Charios because I liked the open and clear sound of the Syntar 100 monitors, but they were lacking a bit in bass. These 12L2s provide plenty of that bass; I even briefly tried the floorstanders 21L, but they seemed to add just a fraction to what the 12L2s were already capable of. To avoid the sound from becoming murky they do require proper equipment to drive them and proper wiring, although that will always be a matter of personal judgement. I have used a Rotel RA1062 amp plus the RCD1072 CD player, Audioquest Rocket 44 bi-wired cable and Nordost Red Dawn interlink with very satisfying results for 4 years now.
The strongest pro I think is the clarity in mid range / vocal reproduction. I have meanwhile added a REL sub (T-series) to support the bottom a bit more and enhance imaging with good result, but also by themselves the 12L2s give excellent value for money.
P.S. Do use proper standmounts !
