I was looking for a new amp to inject a bit of life into my system as my previous amp, a Musical Fidelity E10 was a bit lacking in dynamics for some of my heavier CD's. So after trawling the local dealers I spotted the Exposure going VERY cheaply in Sevenoaks HiFi. Malden Towing Company Weakness:
None . . Purchased: New

Strength:
Very clear mid/high with excellent imaging. Low end is much better than one would expect from the published specs. Don't let that put you off. I have a pair of DefTec BP2004TL that has a low end around 16hz. I like the low end on the JBL more with music that the BPs. How they would handle depth charge scenes from U571, I will never know. The BP2004TL will clear your sinus cavities.
Weakness:
Big, and heavy and made in China. If you had surgery on your L4 in the last few months, have a kid move them. They UPS driver was not happy.
I finally replaced a very old pair of 4311B that I have had for 20 years. I bought sight unseen. I have them running off an old Halfer XL-280 amp with Adcom pre-amp, all cable is Kimber (PBJ and 4TC). They really sound pleasant. I don't think they have harsh highs nor do the woofers get spastic. The Hafler is noted for high dampening so it may keep the low end in control more than some amps. Like all older JBLs, they can really play at high levels. I have spent most of my time listening to jazz and classical at low levels. These are a steal at the price. I did find a link for 199.00. JR music matched at their cost from JBL of $215.00.

Strength:
Solid construction, realistic and almost natural sound, deep bass and detailed mid and high frequencies. Good feets, that make the speakers stand solid on the floor. Simple front cover, that does not disturb the sound.
Weakness:
Muddy bass (sometimes) , a little shrilling with female voices and other high voices. Apparently cheap electric parts inside. I bougth this speaker, because I have read some reviews of the JBL L890 speaker, that was quite positive. The ES90 uses much the same parts as the L890 speakers, so I thought, they would sound much the same, although they are a little cheaper. I have had some Kappa 90 speakers in the past, that I was very fund of, so I thought, that the ES90 speakers would resemble them a bit.
