many people have many opinions when it comes to audio gear, and especially speakers. some people claim Klipsch speakers are fine for hip hop, but not for jazz and classical music, etc. depends on the amp you have. for the money these speakers cannot be beat. I listen to jazz, new age, acoustic, and classical music. with a tube amplifier these speakers are very nice. you should notice a difference at the $2000 pair + range.. One would expect it. But just how much of a difference? I have listened to a lot of different speakers, sell Jolida gear, and also sell vintage speakers from time to time. It is hard to beat Klipsch. Some people like flat speakers. Those sound dead to me. I like bright and cheerful and lively. I find it best to use a low watt tube amp with Klipsch speakers. You could drive these speakers with 5 watts. a 20wpc tube amp would be real nice. And EL34 tubes are real pleasant sounding with these. I can listen to a jolida amp and these speakers all day long and not get tired. Get a pair of these and a Jolida JD202BRC amp and you will be happy. Unless you are accustomed to listening to much more expensive gear. I have a pair of Advent 6003 full range speakers. Those are real nice sounding. Real nice. But I can listen to either pair. I am listening to Sade now. Her voice is so clear, sexy, and seductive. The Klipsch do her honor. When I first for Klipsch speakers I had to get used to the sound. Now I realize that the highs are part of music too as well as bass. Bass crazy people. And horns can sound so alive with these speakers. Since I am not a bass case these do well without a thundering, vibrating sub. These are also good for movies too. Dynamic. Thanks. At the end of the day though I prefer the better made vintage speakers using the paper cone drivers- smooth sound with nice amp. Hard to find those anymore though. These do not compare to Pioneer HPM 100 speakers, but good luck finding a pair. And some of the old JBL speakers sound wonderful. The old models do have large and bulky cabinets, but I like the real wood veneer. If you want a clear sound for all types of music you will be happy with these. Don't spend money you do not have to spend. Get these and a tube amp. Be happy, and not broke or in debt. |
