Strength:
Have had my MA Studio 6’s for 15years. I have upgraded almost every other piece of of my hi-fi equipment but I won’t replace these. As I write this I’m listening to Radio Paradise eclectic mix on ALAC via my Cambridge Audio CXN V2 streamer via my iPhone 8 and as usual, despite a stunningly three-dimensional revealing soundstage, the music is so natural, warm and clean, it’s almost as if the MA Studio 6’s wash it’s face and taps it gently on the head before releasing it to my living room. I just love them. Next purchase will be the Cambridge Audio CXA 80 integrated amp which I hope will add a bit of muscle on the low end which my 40 watt Marantz just can’t achieve. Weakness:
You need a powerful amp to really make the low end hum. I had a Nad Silverline integrated amp which was about 100 watt. Despite producing a surprisingly muddy sound at the ends (not so great NAD amp for the money) the MA held the muscle even when played at the lowest of volumes. A good muscley amp is recommended. Price Paid: 350

Strength:
- Very smoth, detailed and silky mid; excellent resolution of highs; brilliant bass response (deep and fast) for a stand mount speaker (the best I ever heard); large and deep soundstage; and fine finish.
Weakness:
They require an expensive pair of stands, are not suitable for cheap electronics. Their bass just come to live with high current amplifiers. In this sense, they are not for entry level integrated amps. Not suitable for small rooms., they need medium size rooms. I purchased those loudspeakers on Mercado Livre (Brazilian Ebay) from a Brazilian audiophile in 2006. The loudspeakers was discontinnued at that time but for lucky it was in mint condition. Actually, the previous owner hadn't used them enoughly to break in.

Strength:
Clarity, transparency and that beautiful mid-range. Built like a tank.
Weakness:
If bass is that important, you shouldn't have these speakers. These are not Rock N' Roll speakers. As for what others may think, I really don't give a damn. I speak of course about the guy at the Hi-Fi shop who will shoot down anything that he doesn't sell. I auditioned speakers for 2 months before quite accidently finding these used at a local shop. I was very close to buying the Totem Arro when I stumbled onto these. I brought them home to audition and it was love at first listen. I know that they don't have great bass, but, who cared. I listen to jazz and most of it is vocal jazz other than Miles, Grusin and a few others. The soundstage is exceptional, but it is the clarity and the transparency that will make you sigh. I swear, Dianah Krall was in the room with me last night. I could hear her lips part just before she sang a note. And, Ella, Oh! Ella. She lives. And, try Manheim Steamroller doing the Disney themes. They will find some bass when they need it. Did I bother to tell you that I really like these speakers? I do not have expensive stuff. But, whatever it is produces great music. Strength:
Mid range and high are wonderful
Weakness:
Base, of course. But I have a Velodyne sub to compensate that. I am lucky to have these ROSEWOOD LACQUER piano finished speakers at a very good price. They sound beautiful! Sweet! Classical music is just perfect with them. I love their look especialy the rosewood is an amazing finish. Get them if you can because they sound better with age! The guy who bad-mouthed them about dynamic should not be allowed to put comments in this forum. I don't know if he realy owned a pair so just speculated from a prejudiced mind. |

Strength:
Clarity, speed and staging. Physical: small, nice wood finish, robust construcion. Bi-wire possible
Weakness:
euh....? To be honest I did purchase a REL strata II to up-grade video/DVD experiences I've puchased these 'best-buy-ever' speakers 18 months ago. I thought I knew the speaker.. but last month I hooked up my new Van den Hul CS - 122 HYBRID (www.vandenhul.com) loudspeaker cables and I really had to go trought my entire CD collection again.... and again. Amazing the clarity, staging and accuracy. If you can get your hands on two of these beauties.... go for it! |

Having lived with these speakers for about five years in a number of settings, I can echo the generally positive comments here. I would add a couple qualifications: |

I've owned a pair of Studio 6's for 3 years now. These replaced a pair of KEF C95s. My wife and I heard these at the 1992 Stereophile show in San Francisco. We thought that MA had the best sound of the show (well we were pretty impressed with the Meridian DSP-5500s also). After that we had scoured ads for a used pair - finally got them! The cabinetry is absolutely gorgeous (I think I like only the Sonus Faber's better). The soundstage and detail are (to me) perfect. Paired with a Velodyne subwoofer - there is nothing more I need as far a bass/dynamics. I've got a pair of MAG 902s on order from Sound City (these will also have the rosewood finish). They have a couple of pairs left at a heavily discounted price. I am salivating over pairing these with my Studio 6's as surrounds in my home theater - this should be a killer setup. To cap this review off, my wife once said to me, if she ever leaves the MA Studio 6's are going with her. Enough said. |

Perfect midrange balance, excelent bass extension and deep lower range with a fantastic high range. Give these speakers a try and you'll see what I mean, give them some jolidan or jadis if you're in analogic or some krell, plinius if you're into transistors. They sound perfect for the price. |

Uha, what a pair of speakers. I was simply delighted with the beautiful sound that these speakers have. I've audiotioned them for a few days with some plinius amps and the better the amp, the better these speakers sound. Excelent midrange extension, with a wonderful sounding separation and a very good bass extension. The best speakers at this price, no doubt about it, it's not a matter of taste, just a matter of good taste. |
