Incredible accurate and beautiful construction, Front and back skin and a great sturdy and thick cabinet to muffle unwanted resonances. The sound is spectacular for its price range. The engineers did a wonderful job. The sound is material, warm finished and at the same time detailed but not tiring. Excellent tonal balance and wide acoustic scene, despite the small dimensions of the cabinet. Great with S.S or Tube Amplifier too!!!!!!!!! Highly recommended by spray foam insulation Sherman TX!

To each his or her own. I have lived with only two brands in the last 40 years, Sansui and someone other. Now, I have come full circle and have joined the sound of music, to paraphrase a signature film, and moved on up to the world of Polk Audio. All of my speakers are PA, and proud to be member of that group. My music varies a little but not into the wild and crazy. I like the soft yet full sounds they produce. With all of the systems out there now, you can program just about anything for any situation you have. My lows are not lows, but well formed lows. Some sounds are produced that favor certain body's of the music realm, but if you can reach out and touch that middle you have something. I feel that way with these.

My weaknesses with them are yet to be defined. If I could surround my head with them all day long, that would be incredible. I really don't see or hear anything wrong. I am not an aficionado by any meaning of the word, but do know what I like when it comes to R & R.

These are very average floor standing speakers and are more than bested by the Polk RTi line of floor standing speakers in both build quality and sound.

These are basically just the TSi200 bookshelf speakers in a floor model version.

The difference between the Tsi line and Polk's Rti line is vast. The Rti line is just so much better in every aspect of sound reproduction.

I personally, would never buy these again after returning them and would go RTi floor standing since they are well worth the extra money.

I actually ended up buying some Definitive Studio Monitor 450's at a radically low price point since the 350 and 450 line have been dis-continued and can be had a unreal low prices.

When it comes to good Polk speakers the Lsi line is by far the top but are very pricey compared to the Rti line with only a very small gain in sound reproduction.

I really can't understand how anyone can call themselves a AudioPhile and think that the Polk Tsi line is a above average sounding speaker?

I'm not trying to me mean but the Polk Tsi line including the CS-10 and 20 center channels can't compare to the Rti line of bookshelf, floor standing, and centers.

I owned the Polk Tsi 200 and 100's in the bookshelf version and had a close friend with the floor standing version. As long as a sub was added, and you will need a sub with either speakers, the Tsi line is way below average and have a horrible sound stage that's just too forward with the highs and lacks mid-range depth.

The Definitive 450's and the twin SVS 12" powered subs for both my 2.2 high end analog system and my 6.2 surround sound system were a great combination. Add a Definitive C/L/R 2002 center channel that weighs about 25 LBs and you can hear a soundstage that's second to none!

My separate component 2.2 stereo setup can really drive these 450's with up to 255 watts of very clean power and they just love it!

As a purist and low end Audio Phile (I just can't afford the speakers I would love to have or the separates ) but have mint vintage setup for stereo that when compared to some of the very expensive equipment will hold it's own even though it's all vintage equipment!

So I understand my limitations as a Audiophile that's been on a tight budget since 2006 and have bought my speakers by saving for months. The dis-continued Definitive 450's at a 55% savings were easily the best choice in a bookshelf design for both build at 20 lBs each and sound quality with great drivers!

All my other equipment is close to high end. For home entertainment the Yamaha receiver and Blue Ray player get the job done. For music I turn to vintage Carver C-1 preamp, Hafler DH-500 amp, Onkyo 7030 CD player and a Project Debut 3 turntable.

Combining these separate's with my Def Tech 450's and twin SVS 12" powered subs I get a fantastic soundstage that's hard to believe! With the high output amp driving these book shelf speakers at around 200 watts per channel they have amazing detail!

Everyone that has com over to watch a movie is very impressed mostly with the Definitive 2002 center that is just fantastic. When I play music via vinyl all my friends who are younger than myself are just blown away!

Some of my friends were never exposed to vinyl or were at a very young age. Myself at 48 have gotten back into vinyl in a big way and my speakers are the biggest reason my system not only impresses everyone that's heard it but it was all put together at a price point most would think was impossible!

Sorry but the Polk Tsi line of speakers in both the bookshelf and the floor standing versions just fall very short of being good speakers.

Moving up to the Rti line is a different matter however. I would have no problem giving the Rti line a big thumbs up as long as you buy all Rti and timber match it the way I did with my Definitive 450's and my Definitive C/L/R 2002 center channel that's still selling for over $500!

I have been using these for a while. I have hooked them up to an old pioneer power amp, with my yamaha reciever. and a couple older denon reciever's. and my yamaha reciever, with a yamaha MX-1 power amp. I bi wire them strait from the reciever there not great underpowered. but once you give em the power they want 200 + watts they come alive! I thought they sounded best bi wired right from either of my Yamaha
765, or the 665. but I now power them with the MX-1 almost a direct match @ 8 ohms. as fronts. My room isn't large enough really! But they sound great!!! and truly they will rock the biock! they have great low end, no sub needed. and amazingly the highs are vivid. Figuring the 4 mid/bass would over power the 1 1inch. tweeter. not at all. I bought them new. and was just about to closet them. till I bi wired them, then found my MX-1. and wow! I have the TSi 200 for rears, and also B&W 685. and CS20 center. I woul;d definitly agree these are very good! but not with 100 watts or less. the like to be pushed. I would but them again if budget was a factor. I like the B&W's better but they are just a book shelf type. and cost more. so for the $ I love them!!!! befor I found the amp, I was really loving the TSI 200. they bi wired also sound superb.. and are more suitable for a modest reciever. and smaller room. neibors can sure hear me.

I had every intention of getting all Infinity speakers. and did get the sub. but just before I was about to make my choise I was listening to Infinity's book shelf speaker, right next to the polks. and just pushed the button. night and day. instantly it's all about the polks! so I bought the set! after I brought them all home had them running for a short time. my buddy brought his bose 601 and his Pioneer power amp. though the bose did sound good specially for their age. though replacement drivers. hands down the polk smash em. and just about any other I listened to accept the B&WS. agian if your in doubt, and not rich, go get em! but give em power. or go with the 200's you'll find yourself inlove with the the way they sound..

I had when I was much younger a poster of a guy in a chair with speakers infront of him a drink aside and the speakers blowing everything away. memorex or maxell? one of those. that's my goal!! haha these come close...

Sound-

the best performance in the upper entry segment. I moved from a set of polk R300s to these and yes they make a huge difference in the sound. I feel the room shake during explosion and low bass sequences. They image very well..the image size increased about 2-3 times from the r300s when listening in 2 channel. I am using these with a CS20 center and the front sound stage is immense. I emailed Polk audio support and they suggested I use the Polk RC60i's for rears due to my living room layout. The entire system sounds very balanced with no change in tone going from rears to fronts. I am also very happy with the level of support as I received a reply within 24 hours.

OK onto the competition these beat to get into my home...i listened to Klispchs, JBLs, infinities in the same price range, put in Bose 201 and 301 into the mix just to see wht they could do since all my friends go gaga over Bose. result was pretty simple..the polks where cleaner at the highs and mids no matter what receiver i used on them. Only on certain tracks did the infinities and polks start sounding the same. If there was another brand that i would recommend it would be the infinities.

Since i was in the process of upgrading my receiver i went ahead and listened to these speakers with different receivers. Onkyo and Denon made the speakers sound natural and it was an amazing experience in 2 channel music. With the sony,yamaha, pioneer receivers i actually noticed the pronounced performance on highs on these..use these receivers if you are planing a beast of a Ht system..the speakers they are efficient at 91db..and will not need a lot of power to move air in medium to large room. These are defenitely not for smaller rooms. You need space of at least 2500 cuft to sound good and they get very loud. I have not pushed to them beyond my receivers (Yamaha rx-v465) limit which is around 100 watts, and i can tell you soundtracks and movies hit you in the chest and are so lifelike when you push them...there is no distortion at all. they just trump out the opposition at the price range.

Looks - the speakers look immense in size..44 inches tall and have a very nice finish to the cabinet. the gloss top is also a nice touch and makes the cherry color stand out better. remove the grills and you are treated to an array of 6.5s which are pretty similar to the monitor line :)! overall a joy to look at with or without grill.

Value - what are you waiting for...if you want to enter the realm of music and movies with a set of high quality fronts then go with these and invest in a good amplifier/receiver and Sub for breathtaking sound. Polk TSI500 are definitely worth the shot. Try them you wont be dissapointed.
