Strength:
Blends easy for music cannot even tell the sub is inline when its set up and placed correctly.
Weakness:
None that i could find for my application. Great little sub, I found that with a little work on placement and settings it blends very well for music. Bass is tight and fast i replaced it with a JBL sub woofer in my 2 channel system. I like the fact that the bass seems more accurate then the JBL
Customer Service I had a problem with the first sub it would blow fuses when plugged in, One call to Sunfire and they took care of it no questions asked AT ALL. Thanks Sunfire and Bob Carver for such a great well thought out audio product.

I have read that if you place this sub on a hardwood floor it will jump around. Besides it shaking dishes off our china cabinet....nothing. That’s right I got my SUNFIRE True Subwoofer Super Junior at a Goodwill thrift store for $19.99. My wife and I went in to the thrift store to look for nick-knacks for our outside patio area. I walked in, they have the Audio/Video right by the door. I saw the Sunfire sitting there and couldn’t believe my eyes; I almost jumped on it in fear that someone else might see it. Then I saw the $19.99 price tag on it and almost had a heart attack. It was in mint condition, a little dusty, that was it. I thought for sure it was internally damaged. I got it home, disconnected my Yamaha Sub and plugged her in. Unbelievable!! I have read reviews of this sub but until I actually heard the sound I couldn’t believe that for such a small component the sound it produces is phenomenal. I read the manual from Sunfire’s web site and started playing around. I did have to try several locations to find the most optimal spot. This is very true; I couldn’t believe the sound quality when relocating it. I am still fine tuning and looking for my sound meter to get it dialed in. Of course I had to test the sound on a few of my favorite surround sound “go to” DVD’s: Predator (the gunfire scene when they first see the Predator and mow down half the jungle), next was Heat (bank robbery scene, cop shoot out). I can’t say enough of the sound that this sub puts out. I couldn’t help sharing this find with all of you. Now when the wife wants me to run with her to do some nick-knack shopping, I’m the first in the car. Customer Service Not yet. There website is informative.

This is a great sounding Subwoofer. However, when it goes wrong don't expect help from Sunfire. They like to make easy sales without back-up service. |

PLACEMENT SENSITIVE THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE UPDATED SUNFIRE SUPER JUNIOR... EXTREMELY FAST AND ACCURATE BASS. VERY POWERFUL WHEN NEEDED, CAN PLAY EXTREMELY LOAD. LISTEN TO MAHLER AND WATCH FOR THAT BASS, WOW MADE ME LITERALLY JUMP OUT OF MY SEAT. CLASSICAL MUSIC REALLY DOES MAKE A SUB WORK. DO PLAY WITH DIFFERENT LOCATIONS BECAUSE IT PAYS BIG DIVIDENDS IN THE END. MORE WORK TO SET UP BUT WELL WORTH IT. I GOT MINE FOR A STEAL FROM EXTRPC IN N.Y FOR $799.00 PLUS SHIPPING. CALL THEM AT 516-359-6823 AND ASK FOR CHRIS. Similar Products Used: VELODYNE, HSU E.T.C |

Strength:
Good bass response, quick, small size, amazing power. Auto on off makes for easy use as well.
Weakness:
Bounces around if on hard wood floors without the suppilied spikes. (recommend putting it on carpet to help the bouncing a bit.) Still, bouncing is good, it means the sub can really kick! This is the best subwoofer you can get. This is simply because of the size to power ratio. Bob Carver is a good when it comes to subwoofer technology, and it shows through the Jr. With such good frequence response and POWER, this sub has made me happy since the day I bought it. I highly recommend this sub to any person looking to buy a powered sub with a decent budget and size in mind. Similar Products Used: none |

Has a lot of POWER for a 9" X 9". Crossover FREQ & phase excellent!!!!
Weakness:
User error. Improper set up!!!! Well, first of all I have to say that Bob Carver is the ultimate man when it comes to stereo home theatre equiptment. I've seen other reviews complaining about a humming noise, loud boomingness, subwoofer doesn't shut off, etc...etc... These guys are idiots! Depending on your reciever and your surround sound speakers, YOU HAVE TO BLEND THE SUBWOOFER NOISE TO GET AN ACCURATE SOUND!! All of the complaints above are people who simply turn up the 1200 watts when their speakers handle much lower wattage. Blending is the most important thing about having a true home theatre sound. The crossover FREQ. is awsome on this subwoofer. You can blend this very nicely with any speaker. You can fill up the room with a very low bass level control and most of all it will sound beautiful. That is the mistake that people make. At 9" X 9" this is one powerful thing. It will rattle the house, it will move a condo off it's foundation and most definitely will collaps an apartment building!!!! Shop around, especially on ebay and you can find a sweet deal under $600 You will not be disapointed. PRAISE CARVER & SUNFIRE!!!!! KICKIN ASS!!!!! Size, punch, High SPL, low distortion (when set up properly).
Weakness:
No 220v version, no consideration for spikes (which it desperately requires) Truly a great little gem!!! Very fast, responsive and tight. My original intend is for a two channel stereo since my ATC SCM20T, although packed with tight quality bass, can only goes downn to 50hz. After much tuning, the Junior now blends well with the ATC, adding the much needed subsonic info which was lacking. Now the bass is both tight and packed with punch with no signs of boominess!!! A word of advice, this baby seriously require some spikes, or it will jump around the place. The spikes also tightens up the bass and give it more shape!!! Now after the addition of the Junior, watching "Black Hawk Down" and "Saving Private Ryan" is truly an earth-shaking experience!!! P.S. I think the Velodyne is more musical but lacking in ooomph when watching movies. So after weighing between the Junior and the Velodyne, i opted for the Junior which i think it's an all round WINNER!!! Similar Products Used: Velodyne SPL 800/1200, REL Q200E, Sunfire MarkIV |

Size, can bounce under heavy load A wonderful subwoofer that can give several larger more expensive brands a run for their money. Fills the room with great bass for music and movies. May not be suitable if you have a large room, but is perfect for those that live an apartment or condo. Similar Products Used: Polk PSW 300 |

Blending with satellites both large and small! An engineering marvel but not worth spending money on if music is your primary interest. It is almost impossible to blend this little sub seamlessly and I am very experienced in blending subs. Yes, you can go to the added expense of adding crossovers, filters, etc. if you want and MAYBE you''ll be happy. I''m a tweaker and even I got tired of fooling with this sub. it is a novelty sub that has been surpassed many times over for less or equal dollars! How can something so small and cute be such a musical giant in bass output? Take your time to tune it to perfection. After that, you will have to wonder how other subs can claim to be simply plugged in and blend with the rest of the system -- Good Bass is hard to obtain and it takes efforts to achieve.
Weakness:
Will cost you some time in placement and tuning. Best placed against a corner as suggested by the manual. This is a quick review of the new Super Junior model, with 1500W peak power handling. A lot has been said in the previous positive reviews of the Junior model, which I do not have to repeat -- real bass, musical, fast, blend in with main speakers well... Let me just emphasize the importance of taking the time to fine tune this unit. I was initially somewhat disappointed by the bass performance, until I spent quite a bit of time with a sound meter and good reference CDs and DVDs to set the three controls at the back properly -- Phase 90 degrees (default), Crossover just below the default 65Hz, and volume set way below the default 0 db. Then it blends so beautifully with the B&W 1NTs, in music and in movies (subwoofer output from my Onkyo receiver is set higher by 4 dbs for movies, also pay attention to your receiver / amps LFE cutoff point). It''s impossible for me to listen to even regular classical music anymore w/o this sub. Note - do not jack up the volume, take your time to tune this unit to a perfect blend with your system (unless you prefer over-emphasized bass). For some bassy materials, definitely try Velvet Ropes from Janet Jackson (in particular track Go Deep), The Sun Don''t Lie from Marcus Miller (in particular track Funny), and Holst Plants "Mars" (DG Record with Gardner); for movies, there are so many, but do yourself a favor and get The Final Fantasy -- it will rock your world from the very opening scene.
