Strength:

Compatibility, Design, Price

Weakness:

Time to program, Night illumination only stays on for 3 Sec

This is a great remote for about $100! The unit takes a little time to ‘learn’ codes and on some of the longer codes, it has to be ‘taught’ twice. What is nice, is that it actually learns the code rather then simply ‘regurgitating’ IR patterns it records. Example – a cheap learning remote will only memorize what you give it. Let’s say you hold the volume down for 5 seconds and have the learning remote record it. When you use the cheap remote…a single touch of the volume will produce a 5-second increase in volume! The Cambridge actually learns the code and only stores one ‘revolution’ of the pattern. When you push the volume, it only goes up a notch. If you hold the volume, the volume will sweep up normally. Not bad for a inexpensive remote at all.

For the price nothing beats it. A newer version is coming out soon that has re nameable buttons, more memory, controllable illumination times, and a new look for about $160.

Strength:

Learns remote commands easy

Weakness:

Often have to hold with two hands, runs out of memory, have to program each button individually,

Just got the M1 a couple of days a go, after a succesful bid at ubid. Uses 4 batteries, that is supposed to last 6 months (provided). It is a nice size, although you often need to use it with two hands. Learns the command of other remotes very quickly. In my own case, I ran out of memory by the time I programmed my six remotes. controls cannot be customized, so in the case of my DVD menu selection buttons, I had to use the + and -, and the Scan and Display for my navigation buttons.
Overall, it is a pretty nifty remote, not heavy, very easy on the fingers, and pretty easy to use.

Strength:

Easy to program and use

Weakness:

Bit chnunky....very annoyed it will not talk to my telewest Pace box...

I think I would be very happy with it if it worked on all my devices, sadly as it does not work on the cable box..I will probably end up taking it back..

Cheap palm pilot, with remote software..think this is a good solution, although a bit more expensive.

Good box, although the Macro programming is difficult and the manual is not clear.

Strength:

Flexibility, looks, compatiility, large memory, price.

Weakness:

Lack of key tactile feedback, difficult to teach not to output bursty repetitions of the commands (but doable)

this not a pronto, but then again it only cost me 119.95 at AA on closeout. Cool remote. A bit large and each command has to be programmed individually. Keyboard templates can be configured to show only the keys applicable for the model of the device you are programming. Have not tested macros yet.

The blue case was dissapointing - black would have been a better choice, IMHO. Feels and looks like a Palmpilot.

Strength:

Easy to program & use

Weakness:

Does not work on my digital cable Pace box

This all singing & dancing remote would be well worth the money.
Its functions are easy to get on with and would have done away with 8 remote controls.
It may do analogue cable boxes but would not do one command on my "Pace" digital cable & wireless box.
A great shame as I would have liked to have kept it.
