Picked up the unit from my local Costco for $299. Seemed like a good deal for a player with the Dolby Digital decoder built in. I've had the player for about 2 months now, and I've been relatively impressed, the picture and sound quality are as good as any other player I've demoed. The only negative that I've found is the bass management is limited. The only options are to attentuate certain channels. Initially my plan was to purchase the player and then upgrade to a Dolby Digital 'ready' receiver (I currently have a Pro-logic ONKYO w/o 5.1 inputs). However, w/o the bass management options, I'm inclined to use a receiver that has the DD decoder in it, so I can steer the low bass away from my small Energy TAKE 5 sats to the sub. 4 stars for a good player at a great price. |

This DVD player overall is a good buy for the price I paid. First off ,the goods. You can make changes by switching to a window while the movie plays in a small window in the top-left corner, cool feature; bass boost for those low Hz fans; picture quality is good; remote and unit is really easy to use. Now the bads. You have to hold the fast-forward or rewind button to search, can't just press it once like many VCR's; has dolby digital decoder but you can't make any changes (speaker set-up) if you use the decoder. Overall though, it was a good buy. However, if your thinking about buying this unit, look into this years model. |

I have had this player for about 6 mos. now, but I haven't used it a great deal (I only have about a dozen DVD's in my collection). I use the machine along with a JVC-884 receiver. However I have noticed a couple of issues that really bug me: |
