While I will not add an erudite review like Brian, I wholeheartedly agree with his evaluation of the Michael Green Pressure Zone Controllers. I had to replace the carpeting in my listening room to ceramic tile, I have 8 dogs, and needless to say it destroyed the sound of my audio system. |

Strength:
Once properly installed, these products can possibly do more to improve the sound of your system than a much more costly component upgrade. Technical support from MGD is first rate. Lance Binz, who helped me,was very enthusiastic about system tuning, and was willing to speak to me in detail about how the products work, and help with installation tips.
Weakness:
Installing the Cornor Tunes, which are the subject of this review, require drilling holes in your wall to mount the supplied brackets. I'm not married, but the wife acceptance factor is likely to be low. Mounting the Cornor Tunes to the brackets is like hanging a picture. There is a narrow slit in the fabric on the back of the device, and you simply place it over a screw in the center of the bracket to hold it in place. I'm a bit concerned about one of them coming loose and falling, especially since my speakers are only a few feet out from the cornors. Tweaking with the tuning bolt while they are mounted can easily cause them to dislodge. I started tweaking with the PZC's tuning bolt at it's tightest position when I first installed them. In this position, the soundstage seemed very compressed, and the music sounded thin and lifeless. I gradually loosened the bolt on each PZC until things started to open up,and kept fine tuning each one until I got the best sound. The improvements to the sound of my system after I finished tuning them are easy to hear, and are not subtle. There was no need for me to take them down and put them up to listen for subtle differences. Other room treatment consists of two RPG Pro Foam panels on each side wall at the first reflection point, and one panel on the rear wall behind the listening chair. In summary, the PZC's have taken me a big step forward in taming the acoustic problems of my listening room, and I highly recommend them. Right on,MGD Similar Products Used: RPG Pro Foam |
