Strength:
High quality build. Seems to last for ever. Great sound compared to build in decoders. Easy set-up
Weakness:
The relais do click when detecting/non detecting DTS. (not a great deal but there''''s always something). You need to make sure that your rear speakers do full range, otherwise you might be disappointed. Bought this unit as DTS extension to my Yamaha DDP-2/DSP-E492 and I''''m facinated by the sound this little box is generating. The sound compared to DD is clearer and more detailed. Also try to get some DTS CD''''s and listen to Sting or Steely Dan in 5.1 ! You do not want to hear music in any other way. Simply connect your CD''''s Digital out to the Millenium and there it goes. Strength:
The millenniun decodes dts flawlessly with out a nick. The sound quality is jaw dropping and mind boggling, inwhich I have never experienced before with the other digital sound system.
Weakness:
Although the millennium decodes dts flawlessly there are however flaws. Such flaws are no crossovers, so if you have small speakers there is no way to send the bass to a subwoofer. Also the unit tends to make a clicking sound when the unit is trying to lock a dts singnal, which tends to be frustrating and bothersome. Great unit with little flaws. In the long run it's the sound quality that matters, cause after all it's the sound we care about, and that's what this unit can produce best. |

Strength:
Overall a great product. 1 Optical in, 1 coax in, 1 coax out. Excellent Motorola 56009 DSP's and Delta Sigma DAC's. Full 6 channel pass through, and can be configured into just about any system with a full set of pre-amp out's and amp in's. Sound is phenomenal, and price now is unbeatable, $399 for black and $199 for silver. Wish I had waited for that deal, I paid $600 when it was first out. Well worth every penny though, no regrets.
Weakness:
Relay switch for pass through, for non DTS digital signal makes switching noise. Awesome piece....a must have....well worth the investment. See product strengths also above. |

Strength:
Performance, build quality, price, flexibility
Weakness:
None Make no mistake. This is a high end component. High end in build and sound quality. I use it with a Denon AVR-3200. Awesome for DTS music as well. Compared to DD, I'd say that DTS uses the rear channels a bit more. DTS seems to be a bit more dynamic as well. Similar Products Used: None |

I heard this decoder in a listening room with a DTS demo DVD (the one with the Titanic, The Relic, Apollo 13, and Dragonheart trailers) and fell in love with it. I saw it for $399 at www.fivepoint1.com and also at Uncle's stereo (1-800-978-6253) for the same price. Is anyone else interested in buying this decoder? I would like to hear someone else's opinion. Since DTS DVDs are getting great reviews I feel that this would be a great buy. Also, I haven't heard Rotel's DTS decoder yet. How does it compare to Millennium's? |

Strength:
Well Built, Easily Configured, Good Bass Managemen, Add-on Capability, Good Customer Service, Value
Weakness:
None This is a very wonderful, and needed, product for many people out there who have older Dolby Digital systems that want to upgrade to DTS. There is nothing negative I can say about this unit. For the price I think it is the deal of the century. This unit saved me $700 dollars or more when compared to buying a whole new pre-amp/processor. I was able to dig up some other reviews about The Millennium and many pros compared the unit to processors costing four times as much. The unit was designed by MSB. An innovator, and award winner, in DAC design and production. It sounds great and for the first time I was able to hear DTS, which in my opinion adds a lot to music, and I can see why it is the format of choice for Dreamworks. To boot the customer service at Millennium Technologies is great, very personalized service and attention to detail. If you need DTS in you system YOU NEED THIS PRODUCT.
