AFTER LOSING PATIENCE WITH THE RECENT FLAWS OF THE LAUNCH OF THE DVD FORMAT, AND THE VIDEO INDUSTRY IN GENERAL( AN INDUSTRY IN WHICH IM A PART OF) I SOLD MY TOSHIBA 3006 PLAYER. BASICALLY SOFTWARE IS STILL LIMITED DESPITE RECENT RELEASES OF SOME INTEREST. THE 3006 WAS BEING USED AS A TRANSPORT FOR BOTH CD AND DVD HOOKED UP TO AN AUDIO ALCHEMY DTI AND DDE 1.2 CONVERTER. AS A TRANSPORT THE 3006 WAS MEDIOCRE AT BEST DESPITE ITS EXCELLENT VIDEO PERFORMANCE. THE UNIT IS CLUNKY ANNOYING TO PROGRAM AND DESPITE RECENT REVIEWS TO THE CONTRARY ,HAS A POOR REMOTE. SOUND QUALITY , WHILE BETTER THEN MY OLD ELITE LD PLAYER STILL SEEMED LACKING. ENTER THE MUSICAL FIDELITY E61, WHICH AUDIO ADVISOR RECOMMENED TO ME AS A HIGH QUALITY TRANSPORT. THE IMPROVEMENT IN SOUND QUALITY WAS ASTOUNDING. IMPROVEMENTS WERE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM AND NOT SUBTLE. AND THIS WAS JUST USING THE UNIT AS A TRANSPORT!! AS A STRAIGHT CD PLAYER THE UNIT SOUNDS GREAT ALSO BUT DOESNT HAVE THE DYNAMICS AND BASS OF THE AA1.2. FROM WHAT I CAN HEAR ANYONE CURRENTLY USING A VIDEO SOURCE FOR SERIOUS AUDIO IS PROBABLY GETTING SHORT CHANGED BIG TIME . GREAT SOUND, BUILD QUALITY AND SMOOTH OPERATION! HIGHLY RECCOMENDED. (PS-ONLY QUIRK WAS THAT SOME REMOTE COMMANDS OPERATED MY TOSHIBA VCR AND VICE-VERSA..GO FIGURE!) |
