Strength:
In your face clarity and precision. Will show weaknesses of any downstream components
Weakness:
The top end is too bright and cannot be dialed-in correctly even with pot provided for treble control Not Dick Sequerra's best effort. The speakers are too bright for most people and as a result don't play music. They may be great for nearfield studio monitoring but I cannot recommend them for other uses. These are fabulous speakers that have a wonderful coherence to their sound. The midrange and highs are pure and clear like the best elecrotats and they have fantastic bass for their size, tight and fast (the 5 drivers blend together seemlessly). |

The ultimate in FM tuners - in fact I suspect of any source givrn a good and proper live performance, so comparing the live radio performances with that delivered from a turntable system costing of the order of £20,000.00 it is almost as good as most of the time, but when the ambiance in the performing site is exceptional, or the sound engineer is on tune nothing can approach the quality of this unit. BUT it is fragile for a unit costing in excess of a small family car over a 12 months period I have had three major failures - invloving me in reworking the DC power sections - also an HT oscilator to provide drive for the CRT has gone up in smoke (realy) and I cant source Mr Sequerra's location - would however unreservidly commend this device as an absolute work of outstanding quality - and I am a picky sod. |
