Glass Explodes under light loads

This was a great stand, while it lasted. Unfortunately, one day, while I (fortunately) was sitting in the next room, the top shelf exploded, sending shards of glass all over my bedroom.

The top shelf, was rated at 250lbs, and I had only a 114lb plasma on it. It was a miracle, that my plasma didn't fall on its face, and I was able to rescue it from its precarious perch on the lower shelves.

I have tried to contact the manufacturer, but they won't return my calls or e-mails. So much for customer support.
