Put together two of these -black with one side and mesh doors. They went together beautifully, are very heavy duty and look great fully assembled. This is not a cheap product, but if you buy one I doubt you'll ever need
to replace it.

This stand is great, I believe it is the first 'kit' that everytime I went to the next step, I was more impressed with the quality than the previous. Every piece fits like a glove, goes together easily & looks great. Not cheap, but if you have the bread, well worth it. The instructions were better than most, but I wouldn't have minded a bit more explaination. Even the tools provided are good. It even included a level, though not the highest quality. All in all, the most satisfying rack/stand/cabinet/'anything I've bought that required assembly' piece that I have owned.

I agree with the previous reviews of this rack. We have two and love them. The only problem we've had is in the depth of the shelves. We have McIntosh components and they BARELY fit on the shelves. By the time you get your cables installed (especially if they have networks on them ala MIT), you'll have no room to install the rear panels. Otherwise, a very solid, well built cabinet.

Strength:

Beautiful, easy assembly, solid construction

Weakness:

none

I bought the twin 30/30 with a 30 extention. The cherry wood looks great with the black aluminum posts and shelves. The removable back is well designed with the ability to have cords come through the top or bottom (your choice). This rack was so easy to put together. I was afraid I'd be spending all weekend putting it togther, but it only took an hour. Well worth the money and something I'm sure I'll have for a long time.

Strength:

Engineered well, great looking, well built, good value

Weakness:

The back was tough to get on with all of the wiring.

This is the best looking most solidly engineered rack on the market. I looked long and hard and can say that it is the best out there. I love mine, and the wheel kit makes it very handy to get into the back to make changes to my set up.

Strength:

Appearance, Flexibility, matching media storage

Weakness:

Costly, Noisy side panels, legs not fillable.

Did a lot of research, looked at and LISTENED to many racks
and was very tempted by the Salamander: mostly for aesthetics and it's ability to store media. One thing
I noticed, however, took it of the short list.
The side panels do not fit snugly into their slots and
will easily vibrate. Perhaps not with light music,
but most likely with bass heavy material and certainly with
LFE source. Just rapping my knuckles on the side proved this
as did rapping on the frame. I've spent too much time and money removing audible vibrations in the room to risk introducing a new culprit.

I suppose one could wedge something between the panels and
the frame to quell the vibration - sorta like sticking a matchbook between the dashboard and the Windshield, but at these prices?

I ended up with a more audiophile centric unit (Lovan) that can be filled with lead shot, or sand for less than half the price. It looks nice but I still need a media storage solution.

I give 3 stars for value since I find this problem unacceptable at this price point, but four stars for
overall rating since it may be just the choice for someone
who values its benefits enough to deal with the side panel
vibrations themselves.

Lovan, Atlantis, usual suspects.

Just purchased the synergy 30 in black and aluminum, and all i have to say is that i am now going to buy all the furniture i can, desk, etc. made from this company. It was simple to put together and very versatile. It is well-made and very heavy. Which is good for components. But it has to be the best looking audio video furniture for the money i have ever seen.

Strength:

Super High Quality

Weakness:

High cost/you get what you pay for

I bought the Synergy VDO TV stand. I also got the sides and the aluminum feet. Very nice, super sold and a great finish on the wood.
This is a fine piece of furniture that looks great. I get comments on how nice it looks all the time.
The entire Synergy series is super nice and worth the money... you DO get what you pay for.

Strength:

Maneuverability with casters is the only redeeming quality.

Weakness:

Atrocious quality control for the money.

Synergy 40
Do not buy this product if drop shipped, it could arrive damaged due to inadequate packaging. My unit did not but it arrived filthy dirty-as if it had been outside a barn for a few years. The shelves had several dings and scars that should have been obvious to whomever packed the unit at the factory. For the money the consumer should not have to clean the product nor should the product be dinged and scarred. I contacted the company with my complaint and received an email stating they would make good. I responded-it has been over a week with no reply.
Don't buy this unit unless you absolutely require the mobility of casters. Check audioadvisor.com for other fine products.

Strength:

Excellent Build Quality

Weakness:

Finish

Purchased two S40 units and a Video Stand, all in "cherry". The S40 units are a totally different color than the Video Stand. Am currently negotiating with the dealer to see what Salamander Designs can do abuot the problem. Salamander customer service just called me from Hartford, CT. Appearently they changed vendors for the wood parts. They have assured me that they will remedy the problem to my satisfaction. So, high customer service ratings to Salamander and Cambridge Soundworks in Palo Alto. Great product-Great service!
This stuff is real furniture.
