Strength:

Nice layout, luxurious feel, 4+10 macros

Weakness:

bulky

Just picked this one up at the CSW factory store in Needham, MA for $100! What a steal. This remote replaces every piece of functionality from the 5 remotes I once used. As for the problem with the NAD products, I have the NAD 515 CD player, and had no problems with the setup. I haven't had it long enough, but the one potential weakness in the product may be battery life. I'll have to wait and see on that one...

For the price, I don't know of another product that can touch it.

Strength:

Controls all of my equipment, with plenty of room to grow. Backlighting

Weakness:

This remote is large and heavy.

I actually have the RC2000 Mark 1.

This unit is absolutely fabulous, it will easily control every function of all of my equipment. The unit is heavy and large, it is a bit of a stretch to use it one handed, even if you have large hands.

The backlighting is wonderful and makes every button very easy to read.

The multi-page LCD panel allows plenty of room to store all functions of each remote.

These can be found pretty cheap on ebay (I paid $75 for mine)

Strength:

Plenty of buttons, Ease of use

Weakness:

A little top-heavy

What a remote! Truly the "remote of the Gods", as somebody else stated elsewhere.

I used to have the Mk1, but ordered the 5000 because "everybody" I spoke to, and the reviews on the web, said it was the best. I used the 5000 for 2 weeks and sold it for less than half price just to get rid of it!!
Audiophiles interested in this remote, just note: Be ABSOLUTELY sure you can get used to the lack of buttons! I could not believe myself how much I relied on my sense of touch (to touch a button without pressing it, for example)with a conventional button-remote until I used the 5000 for two weeks. And the display on the 5000 allows you to have only a few buttons per page.

Now I have the Mk 2, and I am extremely happy with it. The buttons are very intuitive to use, easy to learn. There are plenty of buttons, and I can truly say that it was for ONLY a few buttons that I found it necessary to use the "direct" buttons. Very seldom did I find it necessary to use more than the first page of D-buttons. So if I press the Satellite function button, I truly have the whole of the "real" sat remote in my hand, instead of having to scroll through pages!

Another improvement of the Mk2 over the Mk1 is that pressing a function button (Sat, for example) once, only changes the keypad to Sat functionality. You have to "double click" the button to change the pre-amp input to Sat as well. This is quite useful, because often I want to change the keypad without necessarily wanting to change the input as well.

I believe it is quite heavy on batteries (although less so than the Mk1). So what? I love this remote so much, feeding it regularly with batteries will only be a pleasure.

Strength:

Layout/Ergonomics

Weakness:

Pain with my NAD Remotes

Overall this remote is great. It is laid out very well but is a little heavy. It works well with my Sony TV, Sony VCR, and cable box. I have had a lot of difficulty programming my NAD T550 and NAD T760 remotes. My dealer helped me out a lot with the tricks mentioned in previous reviews. However, I still have not been able to program all of my functions given these issues with NAD remotes. I hope NAD will take notice so we won't have these problems in the future. My recommendation...get this remote especially if you do not have a NAD system.
