Strength:

This remote is very simple, very cheap, very well built and quite comfortable. Much more attractive then the internet pictures make it seem.

Weakness:

Has some programming limitations and memory limitations. Documentation is poor, but internet remedies this.

This was the best 20 bucks (Canadian yet) I have ever spent. If you don't need all 7 devices there is no point in getting the cinema 7 or producer 8. As long as you don't want to be able to control absolutely ever feature of every device you will be completely satisfied with this remote. My intent was to have a single remote that could control all of the features I frequently used on my equipment and the Cinema 6 really came through.

With use of the learning features and advanced audio codes I was able to control everything I wanted and setup several macros for 1 key turn on of the system and switching between watching tv, dvds and vcr. I can program the vcr to record shows, I can change settings on the tv and I can make adjustments to individual channels on the reciever. Anything you really want to be able to control you will be able to with this remote.

The key to being satisfied with this remote is using the internet. Here you will discover that almost any key can be learnt too and almost any key can have a macro (manual doesn't say you can do this). The only thing I had to discover that I didn't find on the internet is advanced codes and learnt codes can not be copied around on the remote (only really big limitation).

Unless you get really exotic memory won't be a problem either.

Strength:

Cheap, Effective.

Weakness:

Poor manual, small number buttons.

A friend and I got the cinema 6 the same day then a week later we both went out and bought another one each.

I used the Sony (which is not learning but is multi-device) until I got the cinema 6. Actually after setting the cinema 6 the way I liked I took the batteries out and put all my other remotes in a drawer... havn't used them since. I am running a toshiba tv 1 year old, sony vcr 6 years old, toshiba vcr 4 years old, jvc dvd 1 year olds, pioneer laser dics 6 years olds, sony reciever 9 years old. I had to learn some of the obscure buttons like vcr tape speed, and pip channel surfing but I am absolutely amazed with this remote.

I believe that you have to be carefull when learning codes that all previous codes have been erased and sometimes it takes a couple shots to learn a particular button but for the price and the convenience of this remote its great!
