Strength:
Progamablility, Easy of use, Good build quality
Weakness:
Can be difficult to see the display at times, Wish it had RF capability I bought this unit at Mercata's going out of business sale. This unit is the newer TSU 2000 with 2mb of memory(after programming 5 remotes it has used less than 1 mb of memory). I dediced to try this remote out with the hopes of elminating the 5 remotes I now have. It has completed the job very successfully. The remote makes a great conversation piece when friends come over(also discourages them from changing the channel becuase they dont know how to use it). Does very well with respect to the backlighting during movies in the dark. The contrast must be adjusted to the brightness of the room also. That is nit picking the piece. I thought this piece is more user friendly and is smaller in size than the other touchscreens out on the market today. Also has the ability to hook it up to your computer and really customize it. I have not tried this feature yet. This remote is pricey in the grand scheme of things, but it is an excellent remote. Similar Products Used: Atkis RC 8000(tested) |

Strength:
- user community at remotecentral.com
Weakness:
- price This remote is simply the best remote out there for removing remote clutter. It will replace your remotes and with some planning and time, it will make your system easier to use. My wife can now operate my DVD player flawlessly whereas before she would end up calling me to ask me which mode to switch to. With the powerful macros and ability to enter discrete function codes (which don't exist on the original remote), it's a snap. Its programmable GUI makes for some fabulous looking panels and infinite customizability. I like how you can mimic tabbed pages to directly access other pages and devices by creating buttons that look like tabs that jump to various panels. Similar Products Used: SL8000, RC2000Mk |

Strength:
Once I got hooked on customizing the configuration, I spent late nights for
Weakness:
Heavy! Battery consumption. I love it. I bought from company in FL - IEC International, which have great reputation among the Pronto buyers for $249.00 ( I wouldn't pay $400.00 for a remote!), But it well worth the money. I customise it and after spending about 3 weeks, it looks and perform great! I would only suggest getting the Docking charging, cause if you play with it a lot, (and you will..) you will have to add batteries to your monthly regular expenses... Strength:
great versitility, good battery life, nice looking, easy to use once programmed
Weakness:
expensive, steep learning curve for a remote control I was very unhappy with the SL-9000 remote that came packaged with my B&K AVS202 and had been looking at remotes for some time. I expected that I would buy a RC2000 MK II, as I have been in love with the Marantz remotes for some time. But I ended up getting a pretty good deal on the Pronto on eBay, and thus far I am very satisfied with it. I am a CPU geek, so the programming has not been too much trouble, but I shudder at the notion of my parents trying to do so, espically with older or rare equipment. I have pretty common components, but I hvae read on various newsgroups that this remote is capable on controlling just about any home theater setup. Once the remote is fully programmed it is a snap to use. The Pronto is the first programable or learning remote that I have ever owned that has replaced every other remote. The Pronto is not cheap, but I think that it does represent good value. Similar Products Used: SL-9000, RC-2000 MK II + all the RCs that came with my components |

Strength:
Takes the place of EVERY other remote
Weakness:
No documentation about ProntoEdit in the manual I upgraded from my reliable RC2000 that I have loved for several years. Man, what a difference! There is nothing else out there that even comes close, especially at this price. Through ProntoEdit and the wonderful remotecentral web site there is virtually nothing that you can't teach this unit to do. It can be customized to your unique preferences. You can either download complete codes from remote central or easily "learn" them onto the Pronto. I have spent quite a few hours tweaking it on the computer and downloading to the Pronto. I even downloaded commands for my X10 stuff so that I can push one button to start a DVD and dim the lights all at once. Similar Products Used: RC2000 |

Strength:
Programmable, Flexibility, Touchscreen, Discrete codes. Replaces all other remotes.
Weakness:
Lack of hard buttons. This is one of those electronics products that you never thought you needed until you have it. Now that I do, I could never imagine myself being without it. It controls everything that I have on my hometheater including the lighting environment in my HT. It has also cleared the coffee table of all my other remotes that now sit in a basket in the closet. Even my wife loves the product as I have programmed all functions into one-touch buttons. This product is amazing! |

Strength:
PC Programming - can do anything you need it to do
Weakness:
Could be a bit brighter - not always the easiest to read in open light Just incredible ! Very easy to use - takes some time to get used to setup, but if you use the downloaded ProntoEdit, it becomes a breeze. Best thing I ever bought - obsoleted 6 remotes. Similar Products Used: HK TakeControl |

Strength:
The Best Remote for the Price range, period!
Weakness:
Just takes a while to learn, but not too hard. The Pronto is beyond anything that I expected. If you want to do it on this remote, you can. I have a feeling that I will still be playing with this gift for at least another 5 years. I love it. Everything from the user defined functions and user created buttons to the WONDERFUL support from the internet communities....this remote is the only way to be lazy! : ) Similar Products Used: Basic Remotes |
