works for three months.

I have had this remote for only three months and it just stopped working.. I looked up the directions online to reprogram it and it just won't work. It was just needed for my TV and VCR.. After reading the reviews, I think I bought the wrong remote.. I should get my money back.

I live 89 miles from the place that sells this Item
The RCA universal remote is suppose to run my sattalite,TV,CD,VCR. The only thing I could get it to pick up was the TV, VCR. I Figured out why it wouldn't pick up my sattalite, because it is not A Direct TV unit. They have a contract with them and not Dish Network. Dish Network is the biggest competitor, so they wont let it pick up the Dish system, what a crock so now I'm stuck with the stupid thing. Normally you would have it set to pick a one of the biggest Sattalite companies, but not this crooked outfit, they don't care.

No way to tell that programing is occuring.

Although the 500 does control a lot odevices I can not recomend it. I have spent quite some time trying to program it but I can not tell that I am having any affect. The instuction manual is lost and what I find avalable on the net does not seem to work.

Controlling RCA devices.

Like nearly all universal remotes, this unit requires care to configure for devices other than the pre-programmed ones.

Works great when you set the codes right. Like most universal remotes these days, you need to be able to read, be willing to read the instructions, and perhaps need some native intelligence to set it up for non-RCA devices.

Reading some of the other reviews, it appears those reviewers were missing some of the above. (I'm amazed how often in Internet product reviews, people blame the product for their own shortcomings.)

After hours of trying to program this thing, we were only able to get it to operate the TV and a few functions of the VCR. However, if you bump it even lightly, it loses it's program and you have to start over. Worthless piece of junk.

poorly written manual, could not get codes to work or automatic code search to work either and trying to use it on a RCA television, could not see if anything we were doing was working at all due to no indicator lights

we spent about 2 hours trying to get this remote to work and had really no luck doing so....just got very frustrated with it and we called the help line and it kept hanging up on us and was as useless as the manual this is not a user friendly device we thought that using a RCA remote on a RCA television would somehow be much easier

It can control my RCA TV set flawlessly

Not much information on the net about it to help in programming.

I just got the remote and it worked on my RCA tv flawlessly straight out of the box. Maybe it was pre programmed before shipment to the Rent to Own store dunno. All the features of the tv was unlocked with this remote that had not been with the previous RCA universal I had. I did not however receive a manual with all the codes. Nor in the box was there a written method for using the codesearch feature. If anyone knows this please let me know.
