Strength:
Easy to use and set up.
Weakness:
None This remote is awesome. I finally found a remote to control my system. I went from 6 remotes to 1 in my living room and from 5 to 1 in my bedroom. I can control my mini-system and my PS2. I recommend this remote. |

Strength:
Learns everything, price
Weakness:
Doesn't work well with my components I recently upgraded my A/V system from Denon to separates and needed a remote that was easy for the wife and kids to use. I previously used a OnForAll AV Producer 8 to which was truely a no brainer remote. It controlled everything seemlessly. My new Parasound AVC-1800 preamp on the other hand could not be controlled by it. So, I began my search. I bought the Sony based on reviews and I have to admit I really liked it. I was able to setup all my remotes in it. Similar Products Used: OneForAll |

Weakness:
minimal This truely is the "remote commander." I have put my 7 other remotes away. This remote is very easy to program. It gives you tons of options. Worth every penny. Similar Products Used: other sony remote |

Weakness:
Channel and volume buttons could be a little higher up on the remote but is not really a problem to operate one handed because of it's weight. This is an awesome remote. It does everything I want it to and probably a lot more. It controls my Yamaha receiver, Dish Network (Echostar) receiver, Panasonic VCR, and Toshiba TV and DVD player almost flawlessly by just programming the manufacturer codes. The few buttons that don't automatically work are easily learned. Want to control your receiver volume while in DVD mode? Easy. Want to move the channel selector for the Dish receiver? No problem. Weakness:
No back light, button placement So far, so good! Really like the functionality of this product. I do agreee that the volume/channel buttons are awkwardly placed, they need to be more centrally located, IMHO. Even though the codes for my Panasonic VCR & TV and NAD DVD were not listed, the search feature had me up and running in just a few minutes! QUESTION: Anyone using the VL900 with a NAD receiver? I have the 761 and can not get it to learn even one single function!?! Think this is an NAD deal, had the same problem with the previous two remotes. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Strength:
Price, flexibility, Easy to program
Weakness:
No backlight keys, Position of channel and volume buttons Ditto what everyone has already written. This is truly a universal remote. It controls every component I own (6) flawlessly. Very easy to program. I don't like the position of the channel and volume buttons though. They should have been placed more towards the center. This is just a minor flaw IMO. Don't think you need to spend hundreds on a universal remote when this model does it all for $50 (delivered!). I think I'm going to buy a few more just so I'll always have this gem around. |

Learns everything.....i mean EVERYTHING !
Weakness:
No backlight keys After spending about 2 days with the av2100(touchscreen) i realised i just wasted almost $200. If you want a fancy remote that you want to show off, get the av2100. If you want a real convenient value priced and effective remote control get this one VL900. I used the touchcreen for a while and personally i think it takes the joy out of covenience. It is too big and not intuitive at all. Similar Products Used: Sony av2100 and seven other other remotes..! |

Strength:
Learning Function, ruberized corners, glowing buttons.
Weakness:
Heavy with 4 AA batries in. No LED screen like on the $30 non learning model. Not back lit. This is a great remote. It learned my components with ease and little frustration. I had working well all my components until I sold my Carver A/V receiver and got a Yamaha with a learning remote. So far I have spent maybe 10 minutes trying to get it to learn the newest remote with no luck. I am guessing it's operator error because it has done so much for me thus far. This remote will keep the wife happy when you put all the remotes in a drawer and only have 1 on the coffee table. It also has a pretty strong transmitter. All in all a great unit for $60 bucks! Good job Sony. Similar Products Used: My 8 other remotes! |

Strength:
Very easy to program.
Weakness:
Wish it had more buttons. I was very pleased with how easy it was to setup. My only complaint is that I wished it had more a few more buttons. All in all, a very nice remote. Can't beat the price. |

Strength:
Learns EVERYTHING! Easy to setup and use
Weakness:
no backlight;commonly used keys (channel return, volume) are low on the remote (minor inconvenience) This is the best value for the dollar remote I have ever purchased. It learns everything and lets me choose how I want to set up macros etc. Controlled most of my devices with no modification/programming. Great! Similar Products Used: Various remotes |
