Strength:

Sound is just Awesome, even in stereo. No noise just high highs and low lows. Great setup flexibility and easy to use.

Weakness:

Looks are a little less than the sohpisticated price would indicate

Compared this to the less than half retail price B&K. Decided to spend the money, it was that good, and I really liked the B&K. Sound is hard to compare to anything out there. I am still learning what this unit can do but I am impressed. It is amazing to me how sound from 5 speakers can become one incredible stage with this unit.

Equipment:
Lexicon MC 1
Bryston 7B Monoblocks
B&K Ref.7250 (I kept the amp)
Denon DVM 3700
Denon DCM 370
B&W Nautilus 802s (my all time favs.)
B&W HTM1
B&W SCM1s

Can you imagine this...

Strength:

95% of my use with the MC-1 is for movies in a home theater setting. For this I would think the MC-1 is as good as it gets. Ease of use is why I would put the MC-1 ahead of the meridian procc.

Weakness:

Build quality. For this kind of money, build quality should be better.

For home theater I believe the MC-1 has no peer( I take into consideration the ease of use)Logic 7 is , I think, a better effect than the 7 ch. meridian processing but I have not heard the meridian 800 series. I enjoy every aspect of the MC-1 from the tremendous movie surround, ease of use great remote and user-friendly manual.

Strength:

Versatility, Logic 7, 96 MHz, customer support

Weakness:

Still looking

I scrimped to save for my DC-1, and loved it. The improvement in surround sound exceeded my highest expectations.
The advancement in processing logic had me upgrading the chip (a Lexicon benefit). But, when the MC-1 came out, I was in a better financial situation to afford it. Question: was it worth it? A friend purchased one and I fell in love with the sound. He, too, had previously owned a DC-1. The dealer was convinced of the quality of the MC-1. He said I could buy one, bring it home and return it if not convinced it was worth the price. Unfortunately for my wife, I kept it. We'll delay the vacation for three months.
If sound is integral to your life, audition this unit in your home. It won't leave.
Stereo is excellent with this unit. Theater is even better. I've invested over $20,000 in my home theater.
System:
Lexicon MC-1
B & K TX4430 (front 3 speakers)
B & K AV5000 (side & rear speakers)
B & K ST1400 (remote speakers)
Velodyne F1800RII
KEF 104/2
KEF 200C
Paradigm Side & Rear Speakers
Sony DVP-S7000
Panamax MAX1000+
Pioneer 57" Widescreen

Some components are super values based on relatively low price(B & K amps), others are values based on excessively high performance. Lexicon falls in the latter group.
