Strength:

ease of setup, will pass HD signal through component outputs, sound.

Weakness:

remote

The MC12 is by far the best pre amp I have ever owned.
The unit was easier to setup than the Proceed.
Movies sound great in the logic 7 mode and the 2 channel mode is fantastic for my music listening.
In logic 7 the sound totally envelopes you and is very dramatic. This unit has excellent bass extension and the highs are not too bright. You don't get tired listening to the MC12.
2 channel listening is a pure pleasure. The imaging is fantastic. Vocals are dead center and the bass is very realistic. (Of course, my Vienna Acoustics Beethovens and REL Stadium III sub bas system have great imaging to begin with.)
On the downside, this is a pricey piece of of equipment and the remote could be better. However, to me, the MC12 is worth every penny.
Also the customer support from my dealer has been excellent.

Strength:

Sound with movies is unbelievable.Set up is a breeze. Video switcher is excellent.

Weakness:

Remote is not a learning remote.

While I have only had this for two weeks I felt I needed to add a review after the review from the listener who totally bagged this unit for music. If this sounded bad in a showroom it was set up wrong or in the wrong surround mode. The flexibility this offers is second to none. My installer was thrilled. Had never seen anything with so many options but still relatively easy to set up. The music using B&W nautilus series speakers is outstanding. The picture using s-video is crystal clear. Currently I only have 5.1 but am setting up for 7.1. The mc 12 has logic 7 which can be used with 5.1 system. On DVD it is nothing short of stunning. Even my wife commented on the sound and picture.
While this is not cheap, nothing I have seen(krell, theta) could touch the overall effect of this unit. The manual was even written by someone who actually could use the unit. If this is in your budget you will not be disappointed.
