I am happy with this unit, especially at the closeout price I paid. I like the sound compared to other units I have heard. I am still getting used to all of the features of the unit and the RC-2000 remote ("Remote of the Gods"). TV sound is smooth and natural. Unlike other units, no shrillness. Treble doesn't seem to be emphasised which is a relief. My only caveat is that the unit generates ALOT of heat. More than the amp in fact. I will have to rig up a fan in back of the equipment cabinet as an aide to long term preservation. |

I am very pleased with the overall performance of the AV600,with one caveat. It appears that there are no provisions to remove low frequencies (ie. 80hz and below) from satellite speakers. The only base management selections available are a subwoofer switch (on/off, mono, stereo)and a center speaker switch (none, large/thx,small).The subwoofer switch does not appear to have any "low pass" frequency control over the satellites. The center speaker switch appears to control frequency turnover of the center channel only. One would assume that the "large/thx" position would cut 80hz and below from all speakers except sub woofers. When AV600 is in stereo mode this does not appear to be the case. The only mode where there appears to be base management control is "THX CINEMA and DOLBY PRO LOGIC". Hall surround, matrix, mono, stereo modes send full range information to speakers. No place in the users guide does it address this problem.......any ideas, comments would be appreciatsd. |
