Strength:
I’ve owned this unit for about six months now (paired with RMA-1675 amp). Even though I have a 4K tv, I’ve been using this units 1080p hdmi connections. The pic is so good I find I’m good with this resolution. I’m using JBL L100t front, L20T3 rear, and RBH for center and reference 12” sub. The remotes takes some reading. It’s powerful but complicated. When it’s playing my high res stuff, oh my heavens is it ever beautiful sounding unit for music, I’ve never heard a better sounding preamp. When.a single vendor controls both the preamp and amp, beautiful things happen. I find 90% of my listening is with this unit. I’m not really missing 4K, but a easy solution would be running all hdmi to the tv, then fiber out to the preamp and never touch the input again. Weakness:
Not 4K, complicated remote. Price Paid: 300
Purchased: New
Model Year: 2009

Don't quite know where to start with the only other review (at this time) of this unit. I have had several units in my home theater/stereo listening room, and this unit is by far the best. I had used just recently a stop gap measure Yamaha and Pioneer receiver/processor until I could get this Rotel with the HDMI 1.3 out. I also had a Carver unit, and auditioned a variety of used higher end products with my Carver Cinema Grand amplifier. I use Tannoy speakers all around, a Marantz CC4003 player, Playstation 3 for Blue Ray and Cardas cables all around.

Bought it from eBay for $1500 to pair with my trusty 985 MkII amp. The setup was really easy. But I was disappointed at its overall quality. The HD picture quality was good but almost every other aspect sucked. The built in DAC is of inferior quality and somehow suppresses the overall openness of the sound. The way out of it is using the 5.1 input from a DVD/SACD player where it doesn't use DAC. or use the 2 channel audio directly. There is also an weird bug that doesn't go away even after firmware upgrade. There is a 2-3 sec. delay in the beginning of a song or music. After searching the internet I saw many other people found this issue. The only way out is to use non-digital inputs from the source. In this case it was an apple tv but I was hoping to use Rotel's DAC instead of apple tv's which i assumed to be of inferior quality.
