    Strength:

Power 7x 125 WATT, the look (absolute great looking), everything (this machine has it all)

    Weakness:

    None

I upgrade the avr 4800 (avc10se) to a avr 4802 (avc11se). The sound of the avc11 is superb, I can recommend everyone this receiver who has the money for it. I use the receiver mostly for music, the sound is so warm and clear. With films is this receiver a MONSTER!!!

    Strength:

    Sound Quality

    Weakness:

Poor Remote Difficulting independently controlling a second set of speakers

Very Disappointed with this receiver. The sound quality was very good but after a month a bothersome cyclic scratching noise feeding back through all 7 speakers. Also the ability to control the system is difficult, the remote is LCD but if you are controlling more than the receiver with it, good luck. It is also difficult to manage B side speakers. I.E. If you run a second set of speakers say in you back yard or in another room, it is almost impossible to control the main room and accessory room independently on the same amplifier. I endedup connecting and old amplifier to the Denon to run my outside speakers. To solve the problem and also since I ended up buying and programming a Pronto, I will be purchasing the Yamaha Rx V3200. The Yamaha is a much better value and the sound is awesome. Also for what it is worth, THX is more hype than anything. Unless you buy into this marketing tactic, for most avid enthusiasts, there is little detectable difference other than bragging about the fact that you have THX!!

Nasty people on the otherside of the world trying to rip you off....

I''ve been intending to write a review of this receiver since I got it but just haven''t got round to it. I''ll do a proper one in the next few weeks, but this is in response to Billy Luong''s review below mine: Billy, you know the saying "if it sounds to good to be true...." I''ve seen this guy advertising high-end receivers on both UBID and EBAY for a few months now. And I must admit I was sorely tempted, but the whole thing just smelt BAD. 1. Prices way below MRRP and way below even the internet stores like Crazy Eddie, Good Guys etc. 2. He would only accept Cash / Wire transfers (which means you''re screwed if you get stung - which you did) 3. The units are coming from Europe, yet they''re North American models? Hmmm..... 4. The guy had no sales history or feedback. Even shadier.... 5. The guy was clearly "selling" under various usernames, because all his ads had the same teribble grammar, and appalling use of English. Now I can really smell something... 4. Finally the thing that swung it for me and made me stay well clear of the guy: I sent him an email enquiry asking him about one of the 4802''s he was selling, and made a note of his email address I then sent another email (under my wifes email address) to one of the other sellers asking him about the 4802 he was selling. Wow - what a coincidence, the email address was the same as the other seller. Gotcha! Sorry about what happened to you Billy, but it was pretty obvious this guy was a crook. As for the 4802 - great receiver, very happy with it. A proper review will follow.

First I am Denon fan and love Denon receiver. I used to have Denon AVR 3200 now want to upgrade to 4802. I found a sale on Ebay Denon 4802 with a price $900. I bid and was a winner. i paid the guy in Romania $900 + $50 ( shipping charge )through Western UInion. After he got my the money, I never got his email again . So far, I still not received Denon 4802 this is a second week already. Today, I saw on Ebay, he used different user name and said Denon 5700, 5800, or 4802 with a cheapest prices $750 will be shipped from Europe and no credit card accepted has to paid through Western Union some like that. I used this review site to let everybody looking for Denon receiver be aware of that. Because i was a victim. I just lost a thousand dollar. Do not buy from those guy they said unit will be shipped from Europe, Spain or Romania. All these guy are liar.

    Strength:

Processing.Inputs.Processing.Pure Direct stereo. Did I mention processing.

    Weakness:

The remote is OK but you have to scrool thru to much stuff to get what you want.

First of all, this is a receiver not for beginners. The 4802 is a processing monster. And when you get one,set aside about a day and a half to play with it. Set up is pretty stright forward, and there are so many inputs, that if you run out...well you have a problem. At almost fifty pounds this thing is a tank. It will process almost all signals on the market today. But the sound is the best part.Once it warms up,it warms up.Your music will sound different. In two channel the separation and detail are superb. You can also shut off all video signals and listen to pure direct stereo. But it really shines in movie mode. With dvd''''s the THX decoder puts you right there. If you have the room for 6.1 or 7.1, do it.I tried watching the new release of the Excorist with the lights off.Now I''''ve seen this movie a few times on my other home theater system, but the Denon made me turn the lights back on. You hear things. The pro logic II will turn all two channel into 5.1.My wife likes this, but I''''ll stick to stereo. The video processing will handle everything from regular tv to HDTV to progressive scan dvd.It has the inputs to accomdate a dvd-a or sacd player. I know you''''ve read other reviews on this site and they all pretty much say the same thing. This is advanced A/V so take your time and have fun

Very good product. Lots of power. But I don''t recomend this unit if you use 4 ohm speakers. When at higher volume ( -19 or higher ) the overload protector shuts the unit off.. This was the only frustrating thing about the 4802.. AVR-4802 CANTON CT-90 4 OHM CANTON KARAT 40 4 OHM NHT SUBTWO

    Strength:

Three component inputs, plethora of features (Surround EX, ability to adjust crossover, DTS Discrete ES).

    Weakness:

The Denon has an RS-232 port for external control. Would have been nice if the Denon''s firmware were upgradeable.

I originally had a Denon AVR-3200 receiver, and wanted to buy a separate preamp to go with my 5x200 watt Rotel RMB-1095 amplifier, as well as to take advantage of the latest features (e.g. Surround EX, DTS, component switching). However, I could not find a preamp in the $1500 to $3500 price range that met my needs. I wanted THX Surround EX compatibility, DTS Discrete ES, and most importantly, needed at least 3 component inputs (HDTV, progressive scan DVD player, and an XBOX). Most of the preamps and receivers that do have component switching only support two component inputs, while the Denon AVR-4802 supports three component inputs. I concluded that the preamp section of the Denon AVR-4802 was as good, if not better, than preamps costing as much or a somewhat more than the cost of the Denon. Thus, I decided to get the Denon, and hook up my Rotel RMB-1095 to it. Currently, I''m using the built-in amplifiers of the Denon to drive the rear surrounds. I may opt to get the Rotel RB-1090 (2x200 watt) amplifier in the future, but for now, I''m perfectly happy with my setup. Some folks have made comments regarding the amount of time required to setup the Denon. I belive this is a testament to the amount of flexibility and features that the Denon provides. The Denon''s preamp section has as much if not more features than other receivers and preamps in this price range. The Denon sounds great, and is a good buy.
