everything i purchased this unit from harmon outlet and after about 10 hours of tweaking it still sounded awful. i returned it for another and the same. i took it back and purchased a yamaha instead and the yamaha blows the hk away. the hk had no base even with my 200 watt 15 inch powered sub. it flat out sucked!!!!!!! ill stick with my yamaha thank you. I bought the AVR-35 for $450 from sound distributors and I have been using it from the last 45 days. As far as my experience goes, the reciever is just great for the buck. I dont see any of the problems reported in this forum and dont have any problem with the TV cable except a slight hum ( barely audible at the peak volume ) in the centre channel. DD just rocks. Well, its not a complaint but soon after I started hooking up all my stuff, I realise there are not enough in/out jacks at the back, especially in & out S-video would have been great. |

Another defective unit by H/K. Same main board as the 65 and 45. Same problems. |

I purchased this receiver from Netmarket.com about 5 weeks ago for $419. I am seeing adds in Circuit City the last few weeks selling this on SALE for $649. I am VERY pleased with the performance. This is my first Real system. I have it connected to all Infinity speakers, CC1 center, RS1 surrounds, RS3 Fronts, and BU2 Sub, and a Toshiba 2109 DVD player. The DD sound is unbelievable!! |

Strength:
Low cost, clean output, DD
Weakness:
Not a great remote, makes my tv cable suck I really like this reciever. i have it set up as my secondary system but it sounds very good teamed up with a Toshiba 2109 DVD and BIC speakers. Because the fronts are have powered subs the low output power doesn't bother me - in fact I have been really impressed by the "35" watts per channel. I have even driven 4 ohm Cerwin Vegas with this amp and had good results. However this is primarily for movie viewing and it does that well. Set up is easy, decoding great and appearence is very refined. I did not like my Sony at all in comparison because of its noisy sourround channels and lack of detail but the HK delivers. The Newcastle I feel is a superior product, and appears to have lots more available power and identical features but their track record hasn't yet been proven. I got my HK from UBID (yes they overcharge shipping and often plain suck) for $207 NEW not a refurb. What a deal! Go for it if you find this one for cheap, but be aware that digital 6.1 will come relatively soon. Similar Products Used: Sony, Newcastle R925, Kenwood 3000 series (the silver one) |

Strength:
Remote, Sound, Price for Digital
Weakness:
no loudness feature, bad am/fm This compares far better than my Technics and JVC. It has the warm sound that sounds incredible, just as H/K is always known for. For those that say bad reliability, so what??? They sound far better than any other receiver for that price, so I could care less. This is a great receiver and everything works great except the radio. Its hard to bring in any station and for it to sound good, but I barely listen to the radio, so it doesn't really bother me. Music and movies are all I need and they sound great. It has good highs and good lows. I have Sony MF-515's front and left and a 12" Cerwin Vega LW Series subwoofer and they wound just absolutely incredible in my opinion. Great Receiver! Similar Products Used: Technics, JVC |
