Well, this is no review. I just hate all the secrecy here. Why couldn't people just share with the others where they get a certain good deal? You still can get the kick back if you so desperately want it... Just ask the dealer to ask where the buyer got their information. On the other hand, how long do you think you can keep such a pathetic secret anyway? Anybody can find anything you found on the Internet as long as they try hard enough... Shit! |

The only reason I did not post the detailed information that you have, is because I was under the impression that this forum is not for that. The basic tenent of a "secret" is that certain information is witheld. Giving my e-mail address and using my real name, cetainly doesn't fall into the the realm of secrecy! |

The reason this reciever has a low power rating is becuase Harmon/Kardon Doesn't take chances with crappy quality. Most recievers that you see in dumb stores like circuit city are all rated at 100w per channel but that means that they may still distort anywhere past 55w. Harmons recievers are also high current which is good. I think what i say is right but i'm not sure i'm only 13 years old |

My apology, Richard. I have seen this many a time on various forums (and perhaps I was in a very bad mood today). By the way, check out Consumer Direct, which someone says sells the HK65 for $669 and another guy say it's $699. I don't know which is a typo or both are correct but different quotes from different sales reps... |

I auditioned this receiver yesterday and i definitely does have a hiss in it above -15db. And it's more than just a ground loop problem as the only thing i even had hooked up to it was a cd player. I didn't try the dolby modes so i can't comment on those but for pure stereo listening the hiss was quite audible at high volume settings. Aside from that though i felt it produced a very nice sound and unlike the comparable(?) products from sony(50ES) and yamaha(795) this one has a remote that isn't foolish. No touch screen silliness or rotary dial, just a straightup multibrand, learning remote that was quite intuitive to use(for me anyway). I would love to buy this as i feel it's the best product on the market now in it's price range, but i can't recommend it unless you like listening to hiss(or never turn up your system to high volumes). |
