Strength:
6-channel analog inputs to pair w/matching outboard Dolby decoder box.
Weakness:
No phono stage, so if you've got LPs still....
Owned this system for more than 10 years, and still going strong. For a mid-riced consumer-oriented audio product, the amplification section of the receiver is great!

Strength:
high power amp , volume is loud and clear with no distortion.
Weakness:
The remote is hard to program until you figure it out then it is quite simple. No six channel proccessor built in. I looked at almost every av proccesor available in 1997 and I kept thinking of the sound I heard from the demo system at cicuit city. Nothing else I heard in this price range even came close to the sonic pefection and clarity of this reciever. The THX certified amp is flawless . It produces awesome lows and highs that will make you smile. This is truly a wonderful reciver for home audio and music. This reciever will do it all!! I have owned this receiver for 5 years with no problems. Similar Products Used: pioneer, fisher , Harman AVR-45 , Harman AVR-65 |

Strength:
High Current Capability, Price, Expandability, Value and Performance
Weakness:
no DTS decoder, no fiber optic input. The Harman Kardon AVR80 is a good receiver up until this year 2001. It hooked a pair of Klipsch KG 5.5 and it blows my away! Overall it has great sound quality, it has THX certification, Low distortion and highly reliable receiver. I am thinking about adding a DTS processor. No problems so far and I have been using this for almost 4yrs now. Similar Products Used: Marantz, Onkyo, Sony |

I have owned this beast for about 18 months, and it gets better by the day.The bass is low and explosive, and the clarity on the high end is better then none. I have JBL LX10 loudspeakers connected to the AVR80 and these speakers are large and powerful. The AVR80 has no problem at all with bringing out the sweetness that these speakers provide. In the home theatre domain the AVR80 is quite at home. The channel seperation is great and overall performance is stunning. |
