Strength:
Plenty of good clean power, great DPL, build quality
Weakness:
Now a bit dated. No DTS, little flexibility I give it a 5 because when I bought it it was. It is not now but I feel I should judge it on two years of use. Even though it is not "state of the art" it holds up very well to other products that were out at that time. It has been very future proof. Similar Products Used: HK AVR 20II |

Strength:
openness, presence, looks, overall good sound for a receiver
Weakness:
build quality and reliability, remote I had this receiver for around 3 years. When I bought it, it sounded really good, much better than the other receivers I had heard and on par with some Adcom separates owned by a friend of mine. There was really good definition in the sound, and THX processing was a treat, even with my less than optimal speakers. Strength:
Incredible power and clarity, THX-cinema mode, 6 channel direct input for external DD or DTS decoders
Weakness:
None I wrote this review back in 1997. After 3 years I am still a happy owner of HK AVR 80 MKII. I use it now with the Panasonic DVD-RV80 DVD player (with built in DD and DTS decoders) and it still works like a charm...
