Strength:
Has onscreen display, superb floroscan display of volume and other adjustments that can be read from a distance on receiver. Nice sound quality in DPL. Loudness countrol function a plus in DPL which avoids the use of subs if you do not want one. Can overcome the weakness mentioned below with careful adjustment. The single rear 100 watt output channel over two speakers may function better in certain situaltions of speaker placement than two separate rear amps.
Weakness:
Any change in the main volume control, center and rear plus or minus readings and the delay readings throw the soundfield off. Units sound quality and separation in stereo is fatiguing. The adjustment is the hard part and takes time. The result if correct is nice sound for movies and music in the DPL mode.Works, looks and sounds like more of an integrated amp than a receiver. Sound resembles "tube type" sound for a solid state unit. Nice oommpphh in the rear surrounds that can sound lush and rich Similar Products Used: Am-Fi,Kenwood |

I picked up a refurbished JVC RX770VBK, which is very similar to the 718. I'm impressed for the money. Good power and the sound is quite clean. The on screen menu is very nice and the remote is simple and well designed. I'll enjoy it even more when I hook a subwoofer to the sub output. My only complaint is with channel seperation using Pro-logic, but it could just be the speakers I'm using now. Overall a great buy for the money and an excellent first time model. |

I picked up this receiver here for 349, i think it sounds pretty good, nice power for the money, my only problem ive had with it is that it starts to cut out at 29 out of 39 on the volume, although all amps have thier "limit". I still have to say its good. |
