If you don't have the patience to sit down and read the manual, then you'll be somewhat frustrated as indicated by the previous reviewer. This receiver has alot features and once you learn all it's capablities along with the remote, it's really a piece of cake.

Though,I agree with the previous reviewer concerning the
complexity of this receiver, I did not view this as a
atribute aganist rating this receiver. I assumed that like any other eletronic device a certain amount of learning curve must take place. If you do not want to spend time reading the manual then this receiver is not for you or will as stated by the past reviewer frustrate you to death.
Once I learned all its capablities this receiver kicks butt
for it's price (Paid $500.00 via Netmarket) Because I have both a JVC DVD player and CD player, I can now use just the receivers remote to control most of the features on the DVD and CD player. The best part of all is I can control them from anywhere in the house and even out on my screen porch.
I have not experience any hiss or hum with this receiver.

2) Bright Display: Uh Huh! I agree, they really need to provide a dimmer... (Maybe I just havent found the right button yet? Or maybe just Sunglasses at Night!)

This receiver does have a dimmer switch, very clearly indicated on the front of the receiver. Of course if you read the manual, you would of know that!!!
