Strength:
Sub output, price, Dolby Prologic (cheaply), Remote.
Weakness:
Sound quality for music, Bass and Treble controls, Bass. This was my first amp, and I would definitely say it was a good lesson. For a first amp, it's fine, especially if you're using KLH speakers as I was. Once you are interested in listening to good music with a good sound, you need to buy something better. With my new Boston Acoustics CR-9s, the differance between my mom's nakamichi amp and my kenwood was tooo great. The sound instead of muddy, was clear, and the bass was apparent without notching up the bass reble controls. I am now upgrading to a harmon kardon avr 40. The Kenwood VR-7080 is an OK first stereo, but in the long run, it's better to start with a decent amp(anything besides the lowrange:kenwood, sony, pioneer, jvc and couple others. My last tip is: NEVER BUY ACCORDING TO SEPCIFICATIONS!! (Wattage and total harmonic distortion and the rest are all fakeable). Similar Products Used: Nakamichi "Receiver 2" |
