This is the best purchase I have made regarding my system. I was running an old Onkyo pro-logic receiver and the sound doesnt compare (music). The 5000 handles the bass bass beatifully-I dont get loud bloated responses like with the Onkyo. I tested the Onkyo 676 to see the difference with music and it is a joke-could not push the bass. I was all set to get the Marantz SR7000 before I walked in the store, but quite frankly, the 5000 sounds much better with music and the home theater sounded virtually the same. One of my concerns was the power, but do not fear-more than enough for me in a large room. I think this is the best receiver you can get in this price range. The remote doesnt compare to the 7000 but who cares-we dont listen to the remote, we listed to the receiver. Absolute must have for anyone in the 500-600 price range.
