Strength:
I use Marantz MA700 amps for the front three, so can''t review the amp quality. Fit, finish, component video capable are all first rate. CS 5.1 is also terrific
Weakness:
mentioned above The SR9200 has terrific, warm sound. It doesn''t muddle my video signal up by plugging in my component cables, ie, the picture stays 99% the same. The only gripe I have is something I mentioned to Marantz directly. (actually 2 gripes). You cannot listen to a movie in a ''non'' THX EX mode. In essence, if you want to listen to 7.1, it has to be in EX - you cannot turn it off! I called Marantz, and they may work on this in the future by either providing a way to turn off EX in the menu, or providing DDigital in a 7.1 type mode with no THX postprocessing. My second gripe - you can''t set the individual speaker volumes to different levels per input. So, if your watching DirecTV and the rear speakers are no where near as loud as you like, you can''t make a change to the "DSS" input without changing it on a global basis. Hence, once you make the change, it changes for all the inputs - so much for tweaking your system "just right" for home theater SPL levels. Other than those two "gripes," which, according to Marantz, may be available in a software upgrade, it''s a great unit. It does have the THX UltraII upgrade coming, even though it''s an option on the remote, but not able to click on it... Similar Products Used: none - I usually have Theta or MC-12 or other hi end equipment. For a smaller room, the Marantz is indistinguishable from these other brands. |

Strength:
excellent in stereo ,good with movies.Pre outs for all channels.
Weakness:
lacks 6.1 out i am not writing about the 9200,specially ,i will like to coment about the sr4200 ,this is an excelent receiver with both music and movies ,but to be honest i think that for the price paid ,this is a bargain with a warm sound in stereo and with every kind of music, incluiding vocal jazz and cuban music. For me and absolutly 5 stars, you can be sure you´¨ll be satisfied with this item Similar Products Used: denon AVR 2800 |

Strength:
Striking good looks and beautiful remote.
Weakness:
The unit seems much lighter in weight than other Marantz receivers. So far the sr9200 seems to be doing everything it supposed to be doing as far as its processors and stereo mode. I am pleased with the remote and its audio capabilities. I am not so sure about its power rating at this point because compared with the Denon 4802 or 4800, those models seemed to have more power.
