Great unit, but not as good for the price as MSRP recommended. I only paid $245 for it and very happy with it. It has warm sound, no distortion. Just becarefull, this Marantz will go good with any bright speaker, but not warm speaker like Energy.

Strength:
5.1 + 6.1 + 7.1 sound. Good looks + sound in price range. No HDMI hook-ups but unless you have a newer TV its not a big deal. I use DVI hook-up and it looks great .Digital 5.1 sound on HD TV feeds, sounds better than I expected.
Weakness:
No back-lit remote. Could use a few more sound fields, but most people just use a few anyway. No Blue Marantz lights like older units but client has cool blue Marantz emblem that lights up. Very nice unit for the money. Some sites are selling this unit for 700.00 or more.Second zone boom box works well, plays pre-programed stations, cds, from main receiver.Sound is very clear in 5.1 mode. My B+W speakers came to life compared to my old Sony unit. Very good looks on this unit, aluminum face plate not cheap plastic like some units.Awesome dvd movie sound for the money.Bass comes through crisp, not to distorted like many a/v recievers on the market.Marantz is known for a warmer sounding reciever than their competitors, and I think that is true on this unit. This unit is basically a sr-5600 unit with a client that sounds like a high end boom box. Client plays everything the reciever does including TV+DVD soundtracks.Very large and long reciever,30 lbs or more. If you just want the reciever and not the second zone Dav-ed client Buy a SR5600 and save some money.Marantz is better than most others in price range.
