Strength:

Good quality, good sound and great price if you can find one now, or opt for the 503 which is the newer version.
4 stars for overall rating because only very few products in this price range really deserve a 5 star rating.

Weakness:

No OSD, though that is subjective. Runs warm so give it room to breathe.

I have 2 of these Onkyo budget receivers. I liked the first one so much I bought a second.
The TX-SR502 does not have a lot of bells and whistles, however it really makes up for it in what it does do. Good bass management for a budget receiver along with component video switching, DD-EX, DTS-ES and DPL11x. Setup is easy for someone that has done it before, though with no OSD it might be a little more time consuming for a first timer.
The 502 really excels in sound quality over simiiar (Pioneer/Sony) priced budget receivers that I have used though keep in mind that your speakers will be as big a factor for sound quality.
With only 75 watts x7, it may be specced lower than the competition but it plays just as loud as the competitions 90-100 watters.

Overall a great receiver for the money.
