Strength:
Minimalist design Appearance Compact dimensions Full complement of surround decoding Digital amps Six channel direct inputs Clean sound
Weakness:
Minimalist design Small display Small, cheap speaker connectors Limited inputs I got a killer deal on two or these amps and two Panasonic DVD XP50 players in combo, for about $100 per component. What a steal! Anyway, the SA-XR10 is great for space-restricted or minimalist areas. I'm using one in the garage, along with some efficient JBL SVA Series speakers, and it just really kicks butt. It's small size and digital amp are perfect in that crowded environment. Also, it looks good. I wish that it had a sixth channel to drive a passive sub (which I have sitting unused in the garage), and the display is tough to work with at my age. It's too small and has very limited information. Also, the buttons are minimal, and that makes setup a bit more tedious. If you lose the remote, forget it. All these quibbles relate to the size factor, I'm sure. If you want all that stuff, it has to be bigger. I've seen it written that Panasonic lost money on every one of these in order to deliver this newer technology at a consumer price point and that in many ways the subsequent models were taken down market to turn a profit. True or not, this is a great receiver for the original price and a true innovation in receiver. At the price I paid, it's an insane value. Similar Products Used: Nothing similar IME. Strength:
Bass, detail and speed. Imaging second to none.
Weakness:
None Stunning all digital 5.1 home theatre receiver. No A/D conversion until the speaker outputs. This was their first model and still the best. They showcased all the best parts possible but lost money on every unit sold. Much more musical than the newer 45 and 25. Incredibly deep and tight bass. Shimmerling highs and detailed midrange. Simply blew away Denon, Onkyo and Marantz. Imaging that is wall to wall and floor to ceiling. Is only 2 inches tall and has no heatsinks since it is an all digital design.
