Strength:
Design, application, layout, quality of manufacturing, complete inventory of the most popular home theater option, quality connectors, better than average amplification.PRICE!!!!!
Weakness:
No DTS,cheap feeling controller, sometimes sensitive to grounding... After reviewing this former flagship Pioneer Elite receiver Im came to the conclusion as my fellow posters, even though lacking in the DTS feature the overall presentation was extremely good by todays newer standards, reception was very strong and detailed(with antenna) and stations came in clear and fresh, amplification even though using 3 year old technology was very pleasing and corhesive, nice pace and over soundstaging was abit shallow but great spread and smoothness, not the best inner detailing but better then the Onkyos and Yamahas.Plenty of inputs and outputs to create a theatical movie setting, realisum of the different setting was very accurate and simple.Buttons lay out was excellent and the cluter aspect of other receivers were pleasantly not present.Again if this unit only had DTS I will rank this in the top three of all times of the best Elite receivers Pioneer ever made but if your on a budget and the DTS feature is not a great lost then by all means audition this wonderful unit. Strength:
Very good sound quality for a receiver, good power, phono input, solid construction, beautifully finished.
Weakness:
It could have a few more digital inputs... I've been using this unit for almost 2 years and have no complaints about it, only praise. Basically I agree in every aspect with Art, but I also use it for music listening. It drives my B&W 602 very well and When the settings are in small for the speakers, the Sunfire MK2 sub works along for music too. The lack of DTS doesn't bothers me yet, sice very few DVD's uses it and me preferences are for those which has dolby digital sound and lots of extra features. I'm far from upgading it! Similar Products Used: I had a pro-logic Pioneer VSX-D902S. |

I recently was in the market for a Dolby Digital receiver, and after carefully shopping the entire market, I choose the Pioneer ELITE VSX-07TX. This receiver provided the best overall features, performance and COMPATIBILITY to the all-round home theater package. Not to mention its THX certification makes it perfect for any enthusiast to parallel any statistics. ELITE is by far the best consumer level audio/video manufacturer around. Listen for yourself, and look. |

I bought the VSX-07TX about two weeks ago and am quite satisfied with it's performance. It delivers VERY clean sound, has amazing Dolby Digital and Pro Logic decoding, and has all the features you could ask for. It's Pioneers second best AV receiver, 2nd only to the VSX-09TX, and the only differences between the two are cosmetic. I would highly recommend this product. |

I bought the PioneerElite VSX-07TX in Dec. 1997.I wanted toget a Dolby Digital reciever, and had been looking and trying some out for sometime. I previously owned Yamaha's 1070 and was looking at the 2092. I'm glad I got the 07, because for the money it compared equally favorable to the 2092 plus THXcertification. I'm very pleased with its performance to date. Also in plain stereo mode,it is awesome.I would highly recomend this reciever to anyone who enjoys movies as well as music. |

I've owned my VSX-07THX for a few months. The amplifier section is wonderfully powerful, and surprisingly clean for a Pioneer product (but, hey what wouldyou expect with that THX plaque on the front). Surround decoding is first |
