Strength:
# of Digital inputs, S-video switching, quality of sound
Weakness:
remote (shape and light) I agree with the predominant opinion: it's a great, overall receiver. Little nickpicks: the remote can be hard to handle due to it's not-so-ergonomic shape, and it's lights up too briefly. Basically, minor complaints. Similar Products Used: Onkyo 676 |

Ummm...can you say ELITE, remote
Weakness:
subwoofer management This is a definite step up from my previous crap sony receiver. Just say the name Pioneer ELEEEEETE buah ha ha. It just sounds dominating, which it is! 90 watts of sheer power on all channel are enough to blast my B&W's! I finally bought a Pioneer DV525 dvd player, can you say sweet!! Dolby digital is sick!!! Now I'm just waiting for five more movies to watch! Similar Products Used: onkyo, sony, rotel |

Remote Control, THX The receiver removed all the noise from my Direct TV DSS receiver. I'm getting very clean reception on DirectTV now. I just watched my first virgin DVD, Arlington Road. I tried normal mode first but only got 2 speakers to work. Then I switched to THX select, and I virtually flew to the theatre. I thought I was shot when I heard a bullet flying directly toward me and came out of my back. I could hear crickets in the movie, and when the actors opened the door to go outside, I heard louder crickets. There were 5 of them. The picture was like artwork on my 27" big screen. The colors were incredible. Even though the movie was letter box, I didn't feel it was small. |

THX select certified, DTS, Dolby Digital(AC-3),Dolby Prologic This is probably one of the cheapest THX (select, not ultra) certified receivers out now. In fact there probably isn't a better receiver on the market for the money. |

Strength:
value, THX, good remote control, good power
Weakness:
no tone controls in surround modes, 6db tone control range, slight transformer buzz At $599 delivered, this is an excellent value. THX is a real plus on ProLogic material. Powerful remote. The thing I missed was not being able to use the tone controls in surround modes. Only stereo. The transformer buzz was only audible with my head near the receiver. Overall, excellent and top bang for the buck. Similar Products Used: Denon AVR 2700, Technics SA-AX730 with Sh-AC500D decoder |

I am brand new to the home theater arena. I spent a few months shopping for a HT receiver that had sufficient input/output jacks and decoded all the audio formats. It was obvious from the beginning that I had initially set my budget slightly too low. I then came across the VSX-24TX and it seemed to have everything I wanted...S-video switching, on-screen menus, plenty of power, connections for everything... and it worked with Pro-logic, DD and DTS. So far I have not regretted the decision. My viewing area is relatively small so I'm using a set of Mirage AVS speakers with a Mirage 8" sub. Even at house-jarring volume levels the 24TX runs quite cool. I'm still tinkering with some of the options but even with the sophistication of the 24TX, it was very easy for a beginner like me to set up and get running quickly. I simply made all my connections, powered on the DVD and receiver, selected my speaker configuration, hit the THX button and I was off and running with great surround. The remote is a little complicated but I'm getting used to it. I highly recommend this receiver. |

Strength:
Clean and clear Power. Remote. On screen display. A lot of features. THX Select. Lots of connections
Weakness:
Needs Air and gets hot! No automatic switching between Digital and Anolog. Wish I could have bought the VSX-39TX! Well This is one Heck of a reciever! DD and DTS seem to have better control and seperation when using this unit compared to prevous models I have owned. Overall sound is just cleaner. No its not seperates quality but for the price Its better than anything I could have went to a electronics store and bought new for the same amount of money. This thing does get hot so if you have it in a cabnet like I do leave a lot of space between its top and the bottom of the next shelf. I left about 8-9 inches and when its on the door stays open. Keep it cool! I Cannot say enough that this thing sounds so sweet so go find one of the Elite models. You wont be dissapointed! Similar Products Used: Prevous Pioneer Technics, and JVC Recievers |

none I got a smoking deal on this reciever. It is easy to setup and produce a nice rich clear sound..I have this reciever connected to my Pioneer DVD thru the optical cable. It is awesome wacting movies like Gladitor. You feel like you are right there in the action.I have A Kenwood KVS-54 center, a pair of KVS-407 as the front main speakers and KVS 64s as surrounds with a JBL 10 inch SUB.For a tv I have a Toshiba 50 inch theatreview, which alltogeter makes movies come alive. The reciever is very heavy and well built with a multitude of effects and features. For the price you can pick these things up at on UBID, you can't go wrong, since the retail price is 100 dollars. Also regualar audio like cds sound great and crystal clear thru this reciever Similar Products Used: Pioneer VSX 409 |

cant add to others statements
Weakness:
runs hot and you need it well ventilated or in an open area with nothing on top.. it says to give it 8 in of clearance and this is no joke I can find nothing to complain about (90 watts is what I paid for and that what i got) Capt. Kirk said it best "We need more power" LOL.. The thx recievers sound great, have enough plug-ins in the back to satisy even a DJ or a VJ.
