Strength:
Plenty of power; AC-3/RF input for laserdiscs. Enough digital and analog inputs for just about anyone.
Weakness:
None to speak of considering the power and versatility for the price. I may be one of the fortunate ones, viewing the complaints of others, regarding power failures, etc. The last six months have been a delightful listening experience. The 5.1 analog inputs turned out to be a major asset for DVD Audio. Similar Products Used: Marantz, Pioneer |

Strength:
Excellent decoding and amp power.
Weakness:
Muti-source multi-room only seems to allow use of Pioneer MR-100 remote extender which is a hard-wire unit. This unit does everything they said it would! Do I detect a string of competitor posts in here? This thing doesn't even heat up and I'm driving big NHT's in a large room. I think the Denon or marantz boys are making up little ditties and placing them in here. Especially when guys say it cuts out, heats up and has been in the shop for a month but I love the product. Come on! Similar Products Used: Marantz |

This product is not even out in the market as yet and I'm already giving it a five star rating. If you're talking about Reciever versatility this one has it all. First and foremost it is THX ULTRA CERTIFIED. You could play what ever format you want (DD,DTS,D Pro, etc) plus it has a 6 channel input for upgrade (a must). All the ins and outs that you'll ever need and an AC3 RF input for playing DD laserdiscs (a rarity). It also has today's technology such as Crystal 24 bit, Motorola 24 bit and Burr Brown converters, MOSFET amplification and it has 6 ohm capability guaranteed. I've been using Pioneer's VSX-D906S (Japan THX version) for over 2 years now and never had any regrets with it. But as soon as this new gem comes out I'm sure to grab it. |

I've just received my 27, I was first hesitating between the 26 and 27, and I don't know yet if the difference between these two receivers worth the 400$(can). What I know is that the receiver is a piece of art, it plays stereo with magnificence and H/T is a charm. Every details that I never heard with my last DENON AVR-1100 seem to blow out in the room and take me into the movies. The back of the receivers offers enough output/input to serve every purpose you can expect from a receiver. Finally, the RF-Demodulator let me listen LD without any external expensive demodulator. |

Well, I am the proud owner of one of these beautiful receivers. My local store got two in today and I just happened to luck out. I was really looking for the VSX-26TX, but splurged. Just set it up and so far have only played CD's. This receiver is veing used for my home computer system, a rather odd use (My main system are Meridian's, Spectral, Cal Audio, etc.). The receiver is driving a pair of Linn Tukans (great PC speakers, as they are meant for near field listening and do very well when placed near or against a wall), a REL Strata II subwoofer, with the center and rear speakers being ROCK Solid's. I'll put Dolby 5.1 into them later and provide additional comments. I have used a Yamaha 995 and Denon 3200 in this system and they sounded rather nice. I could not imagine the Elite would sound a lot better (I was expecting only a marginal difference) but it does! Rich, Smooth, Fast And Powerful. I am very impressed. The CD sound coming from this unit is lovely. More later... |

Hello! MOSFET is not NECESSARILY a good thing. MOSFET transistors have a non-linear transfer curve similar to tubes. This generally means they have more distortion than bipolar transistors, depending on proper implementation of the later of course. MOSFET transistors however can be readily used to develop very powerful amplifiers because of the relative simplicity that can be implemented in later stages of amplification. For these reasons MOSFET transistors are often used in guitar amplifiers. I'm not sure why Pioneer would want to go with MOSFET in their "Elite" design. Most audiophile amplifier companies would not go that way. However I will not dismiss this equipment outright based on this alone. The real test is in the ear. If it sounds good it is good! We will see. |
