I have had this Pioneer VSX-454 AV unit since July of 1996 as a graduation present. I have two 12'' 3-way main speakers @ 100w max 8 Ohms and using 12 gauge wire, two 5 1/4'' 2-way rear speakers, a 5 1/4'' center and also 10'' powered sub I could turn it up half volume and the neighbors two houses away will hear it but it sound good all the up with little distortion at 3/4 volume.
If there is one thing I could say I don't like about the VSX-454 is that is doesn't have Dolby Digital 5.1 surround the rear channel is mono it is a series circuit.
This Pioneer amp works just as good as it did 18 years ago.

excellent unit easy to operate, sound reproduction fantastic. power may be over rated. great for mid size rooms
